Opis:
Bowling played a key role in community life among Polish Americans in Milwaukee during the first half of the 20th century. This working-class pastime was uniquely suited to industrial Milwaukee, which long held the reputation as “America’s bowling capital,” and the Polonia of the city accounted for a dominant share of its bowling public, focused for the most part in alleys within taverns on the Polish “South Side.” The locally-based Polish American Bowling Association attempted to unite Polish American bowling nationwide under its leadership. The bowling culture of Polish Milwaukee came to an end by mid-century, linked with larger social phenomena such as suburbanization and ethnic succession in what had been traditional ethnic urban neighborhoods.

Opis:
Factors contributing to winning games are imperative, as the ultimate objective in a game is victory. The aim of this study was to identify the factors that characterize the game of cricket, and to investigate the factors that truly influence the result of a game using the data collected from the Champions Trophy cricket tournament. According to the results, this cricket tournament can be characterized using the factors of batting, bowling, and decision-making. Further investigation suggests that the rank of the team and the number of runs they score have the most significant influence on the result of games. As far as the effectiveness of assigning bowlers is concerned, the Australian team has done a fabulous job compared to the rest of the teams.

Opis:
Passive smart textiles are the textile structures that can sense stimuli, which may come from mechanical, thermal, electrical, or chemical sources. Textile strain sensors are smart textiles products in which the sensor’s resistance changes with applied strain. This study consists in the development of a textile strain sensor and its application on a Multifunctional Intelligent Elbow Brace (MIEB). The hand-knitted sensor was developed using knitting needles. The material used for this sensor was conductive yarn and lycra. The sensor developed was subjected to a stretch recovery test using a universal testing machine,, and the electrical resistance was measured using an electrical multimeter. The sensor developed has good sensing ability against cyclic loading and unloading at a 5%, 20%, 35% strain level. After testing, the sensor was stitched on an elbow brace to develop an MIEB. This study involved the best economical method for measuring the bowling angle of the player using this MIEB without any need for a biomechanical test, which is very expensive. This MIEB can also be used for rehabilitation purposes and for monitoring joint movement.
