    This paper discusses the possibility of usage of discriminant models in basic analysis. At first, the issue of basic analysis is shown as a tool which enables shares’ investment risk diversification. In this area the significance of enterprise financial analysis and importance of financial ratios were emphasized. Next the significance of discriminant models in the assessment of enterprise bankruptcy prediction was stressed. Particular attention was put on studying the opportunity of its usage in the area of financial analysis. In that case the examination of financial conditions of quoted enterprises belonging to metal processing industry using discriminant models and financial ratios was made. The study used data from the Official Journal of the Republic of Poland “Monitor Polski B”.

    The aim of the study is to achieve initial recognition of the factors that determine the survival rate of Polish micro and small enterprises. The research, conducted in June 2011 and covering a sample of 147 entities, constitutes a pilot study. We explore the determinants of companies’ survival and test whether firms with different characteristics exhibit different performances in terms of the duration of survival. The results indicate substantial differences in the survival rates. The factors taken into account in this study, which to the greatest extent possible differentiates the whole sample in view of survival, are: running the business with employees or alone and specialist vs. popular activity as regards the required competences. Larger firms (with employees) are significantly less likely to close than smaller firms. Firms in highly competitive markets are more prone to closure.

    Aim: The aim of the paper is to present the possibility of using Kano method by a student to assess teaching staff's quality level. Design / Research methods: The research method encompassed the analysis of the subject-specific literature and the authors’ own research employing Kano questionnaire. The survey was carried out in November 2016. The lecturer characteristics from the student's point of view have been diagnosed, including their prioritization, which allowed for determining the teaching staff's quality level and student satisfaction with lecturers. The qualities requiring further development were indicated. Conclusions / findings: The study shows that university authorities should primarily provide lecturers with good theoretical knowledge and capable of defining clearly the student's obligations. Originality / value of the article: The authors recommend that higher education institutions use Kano questionnaire instead of traditional surveys for evaluation of teaching staff by students. Implications of the research: Kano questionnaire can be applied in a variety of branches and can relate to various products and services, with the aim to point to their qualitative characteristics which should be developed in particular and those which are immaterial to the customer. Limitations of the research (if applicable): The selection of elements for the sample was of a non-random character. Because of the subject matter dealt with by the authors in this paper, as well as due to limitations of space, only some of the results obtained were presented – the evaluation of lecturers. The survey also included other categories which – in the students’ opinions – are decisive regarding the quality of educational service, such as: organization of study courses, seminar timetable, facilitations, and infrastructure. DOI 10.14746/kse.2018.14.15.At the foundation of this research lies the belief that theage can directly differentiate the perception of counterproductivework behaviors. The aim of the article is toidentify and present the relationship between age andthe perception of counterproductive work behaviors. Thesurvey research was carried out in June 2017, with theuse of Internet-based survey questionnaire (CAWI). Therewere altogether 198 officers examined. The results confirmthe existence of variety counterproductive behaviors accordingto the classification proposed by P.E. Spector. Theanalysis results confirm the appearance of dependence betweenthe age of officers and their perception of counterproductivebehaviors. The conclusions which come fromthe research can have significant implications to superiorsin the scope of prophylactic actions aimed against counterproductivebehaviors.

    Opis:
    This article endeavors to present selected aspects of eco-innovation as it relates to sustainable business development. Source material for the examination is data from the Central Statistical Office of Poland (CSOP) and literature pertaining to the area of study. Statistical analysis is used as the research tool. Poland is seen as one of the European Union’s least eco-innovative members i.e. over the period of 2010-2013, it is difficult to discern visible activity in this area. As such, it remains to familiarize business with the benefits of introducing innovation; for both business and environment. The most frequently mentioned environmental benefit received by industry through eco-investment in 2012-2014, has been the recycling of waste, water, and goods for internal use or sale (8% of businesses). Eco-innovations, at the level of industry, can be identified as a means for enabling sustainable development.
    Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie wybranych aspektów ekoinnowacji w powiązaniu ze zrównoważonym rozwojem przedsiębiorstwa. Materiałem badawczym są dane źródłowe Głównego Urzędu Statystycznego oraz literatura przedmiotu badań. Jako narzędzie badawcze zastoso-wano analizę opisową. Polska jest jednym z najmniej ekoinnowacyjnych państw w Unii Europejskiej. Na przestrzeni lat 2010 - 2013 nie można stwierdzić wyraźnej aktywności w tym zakresie. Dlatego należy podejmować działania mające uświadomić przedsiębiorców o korzyściach płynących z wdrażania innowacji (zarówno dla przedsiębiorców jak i ochrony środowiska). Najczęściej wskazywaną korzyścią dla środowiska uzyskaną przez przedsiębiorstwa przemysłowe w wyniku wprowadzenia ekoinnowacji w latach 2012-2014 było powtórne wykorzystanie odpadów, wody lub materiałów na własny użytek lub sprzedaż (8% przedsiębiorstw). Ekoinnowacje na poziomie przed-siębiorstwa mogą być traktowane jako narzędzie wspierające realizację strategii rozwoju zrównoważonego.
