The life of Profesor Józef Zwierzycki was extremely interesting. He was born in Krobia, Western Poland, under the Prussian Partition. He completed his geological study in Berlin, at Humbolt University. Then, he worked in NetherlandIndia (presently Indonesia), where he described metallic ores (Zn, Ag), discovered crude oil, constructed geological maps, andfinally he was the chiefof the Geological Survey. Józef Zwierzycki was decorated by the Netherland Government with the Oranje - Nassau Order, the highest civil order of the Netherlands. When he came back to Poland, he was arrested by the German occupant and sent to Auschwitz. After the Second World War, he organised the geology faculty at Wroclaw University, where he gave lectures on stratigraphy and economic geology. Józef Zwierzycki supplied instruction to the Government on where to search the Cu ores in Lower Silesia. Together with eng. Wyżykowski, Prof. Zwierzycki is considered as the discoverer of this famous Cu deposit.

Opis:
Newely discovered well preserved plumose and conchoidal structures on the large joint surfaces of sandstone in the Sto³owe Mountains are interpreted in terms of tensile features. Multiple generations of the isochrones on the conchoidal surfaces suggest repeated propagation of the deformation front. Described tensile joint surfaces represent only one of several stages of deformation caused by stress relaxation of the Sto³owe Mountains platform. It is assumed that main directions of tensile strain in the area were predisposited by the framework of dislocations and joints in the crystalline basement of the area (Jerzykiewicz et al., 1973). Three others solutions are also discussed.

Opis:
The origin of the pseudogap is one of the most puzzling features of the high-temperature superconductors. There are two main scenarios: the first one assumes the presence of a hidden order competing or coexisting with superconductivity; within the framework of the second one the pseudogap is a precursor of the superconducting gap. In this paper we present some aspects of the hidden order pseudogap scenario. In particular, we discuss how the competing order modifies the structure of vortices in high-temperature superconductors. We demonstrate that the presence of the hidden order can explain some features of vortices observed in scanning tunneling microscopy experiments.

We investigate properties of the two-dimensional Penson-Kolb model with repulsive pair hopping interaction. In the case of a bipartite square lattice this interaction may lead to the eta-type pairing, when the phase of superconducting order parameter changes from one lattice site to the neighboring one. We show that this interaction may be responsible for the onset of superconductivity also for a triangular lattice. We discuss the spatial dependence of the superconducting order parameter and demonstrate that the total momentum of the paired electrons is determined by the lattice geometry.

The aim of the article is to present selected aspects of food industry development, in Poland, in the upcoming decade. The food industry, as one of the most important sectors of Polish agribusiness, year by year is becoming a point of interest for many institutions that would like to indicate its achievements as well as suggest the most appropriate development options. The article deals with discussion issues concerning finding an optimal development path for possibilities of using intellectual capital, techniques and technology as well as the benefits resulting from these for the food industry in Poland at the beginning of the 2020s. Selected development paths with their advantages and drawbacks are presented, and broadly defined restrictive conditions. Quantitative methods, such as ARIMA type models and the Ward method were used in carrying out the studies. Two methods, the MV/BV method and the q-Tobin method, were used to calculate intellectual capital. A search for existing domestic and international literature and reports was also conducted.
Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie wybranych aspektów rozwoju przemysłu spożywczego w Polsce w następnej dekadzie XXI wieku. Przemysł spożywczy, jako jeden z najbardziej znaczących działów polskiego agrobiznesu, staje się z roku na rok punktem zainteresowania wielu instytucji, pragnących wskazać jego osiągnięcia, a zarazem podpowiedzieć najbardziej odpowiednie warianty jego rozwoju. W artykule podjęto tematykę dotyczącą dyskusji w obszarze znalezienia optymalnej ścieżki rozwoju w zakresie możliwości wykorzystania kapitału intelektualnego, technik i technologii oraz wynikających z tego tytułu korzyści dla przemysłu spożywczego w Polsce u progu lat 20. XXI wieku. Przedstawiono wybrane ścieżki rozwoju przemysłu spożywczego wraz z nakreśleniem ich wad i zalet, a zarazem odniesiono się do szeroko pojętych warunków ograniczających ten rozwój. Przy realizacji badań wykorzystano metody ilościowe, takie jak: modele typu ARIMA oraz metoda Warda. Do obliczeń wartości kapitału intelektualnego wykorzystano dwie metody: metodę MV/BV oraz metodę q-Tobina. Przeprowadzono także kwerendę istniejącej literatury, raportów o zasięgu międzynarodowym i krajowym.

W artykule podjęto próbę zdefiniowania pojęcia przedsiębiorczości jako cechy osobowości. Praca została podzielona na dwie części: teoretyczną - stanowiącą opis dostępnych informacji na temat zagadnienia oraz empiryczną, która przedstawia wyniki badania w obszarze postaw przedsiębiorczych. Rezultaty ukazały, iż badana cecha jest społecznie silnie kojarzona z cechami takimi jak kreatywność, zorganizowanie czy wytrwałość. Ponadto, wskazano, iż przedsiębiorczość jako cecha, mimo iż jest zdolnością, która może zostać nabyta, w opinii społecznej jest kojarzona jako zdolność wrodzona.
The article attempts to define the concept of entrepreneurship as a personality trait. The work was divided into two parts: the first one, describing the available information on the subject and the second one, which presents the results of the research on entrepreneurial attitudes. The results showed that the studied trait is socially strongly associated with features such as creativity, organization and perseverance. In addition, it has been indicated that entrepreneurship as a trait, although it is a capability that can be acquired, is considered in the public opinion as an innate ability.

We analyze a boson-fermion model that accounts for the electrostatic potential of the out-of-plane dopant atoms. We investigate whether this approach may explain recent experimental results obtained for the Bi-based high-temperature superconductors. We demonstrate that in contradistinction to purely fermionic models, even weak electrostatic potential of the dopant atoms may be responsible for a significant modulation of the superconducting order parameter.

We study thermodynamic properties of the two-dimensional (2D) Falicov-Kimball model in the presence of external magnetic field perpendicular to the lattice. The field is taken into account by the Peierls substitution in the hopping term. We show how the Hofstadter butterfly is affected by electronic correlations. In the non-interacting case the field dependent energy spectrum forms the famous Hofstadter butterfly. Our results indicate that for arbitrary nonzero interaction strength and arbitrary magnetic field there is a gap in the energy spectrum at sufficiently low temperature. The gap vanishes with increase of temperature for weak coupling, however, it persists at high temperatures if the coupling is strong enough. Numerical results have been obtained with the help of Monte Carlo technique based on a modified Metropolis algorithm.

Podjęto próbę oceny wpływu sankcji gospodarczych wobec Rosji wprowadzonych w 2014 roku przez Unię Europejską na bilans handlu zagranicznego państw Grupy Wyszehradzkiej (Polski, Węgier, Republiki Czeskiej oraz Słowacji), jako skutek kryzysu ukraińskiego. Przedstawiono główne implikacje wynikające z relacji handlowych badanych krajów w stosunku do Rosji, jak również określono ich oddziaływanie na handel zagraniczny, dzięki czemu ukazano wpływ powstałych ograniczeń na gospodarki tych krajów. Stwierdzono, że w wyniku zachodzących zmian w relacjach handlowych z Rosją nastąpiła poprawa bilansu handlowego na korzyść państw Grupy Wyszehradzkiej, a brak istotnych zmian w handlu zagranicznym produktami rolniczymi może wskazywać na zmianę kierunków handlowych i poszukiwanie nowych rynków zbytu. Stwierdzono, że sytuacja ta może mieć korzystny skutek w chwili zniesienia sankcji gospodarczych, co może być wsparte przez zakumulowanie nowopowstałych kanałów dostaw i dystrybucję towarów, jak również stworzy nowe możliwości podniesienia cen i wpłynie na jakość produktów podlegających wymianie.
The article contains an analysis of the influence of economic sanctions between the European Union and Russia introduced in 2014 as a result of the Ukrainian crisis on the foreign trade balance of the Visegrad Group countries (Poland, Hungary, the Czech Republic and Slovakia). The main implications observed in the trade relations of the researched countries in relations to Russia are presented as well as their effect on the foreign trade and the influence of the remaining limitations on the economies of the mentioned countries. It is stated that as a consequence of the undergoing changes in the trade relations with Russia there is an improvement of the trade balance in favour of the Visegrad Group countries and the lack of significant changes in the foreign trade of farm products can indicate on the change of the trade directions and the search for new markets. It is believed that this situation can have a beneficial effect at the moment of raising economic sanctions what can be supported by accumulating the new canals of diliveries and distribution of products as well as will create new possibilities to rise prices and will influence on the quality of exchangeable products.

Motivated by the recent discovery of the cobalt oxide superconductors, we calculate the temperature dependence of the upper critical field on a triangular lattice. Using the lattice version of the Gor'kov equations we investigate how the applied magnetic field affects singlet and triplet types of superconductivity. We show that in a wide range of model parameters not only Zeeman coupling, but also the diamagnetic pair breaking mechanism favors the triplet pairing. In the cobalt oxide superconductors the symmetry of the order parameter remains an open problem and both singlet and triplet superconductivity should be taken into account. We show that in such a case, an external magnetic field may induce a transition from singlet to triplet superconductivity. We discuss experimental results which may confirm this tempting hypothesis.

We derive a doped carrier representation of the t-J model Hamiltonian. Within this approach the t-J model is described in terms of holes hopping in a lattice of correlated spins, where holes are the carriers doped into the half-filled Mott insulator. This representation of the t-J Hamiltonian is very convenient for underdoped systems since close to half-filling it allows for a controlled treatment of the crucial constraint of no doubly occupied sites. When neglecting the transverse spin-spin interaction, the effective Hamiltonian can be investigated with classical Monte Carlo simulations. We discuss the results obtained for systems consisting of several hundred lattice sites.

Opis:
Experimental results concerning persistent currents in small rings threaded by a magnetic flux do not agree with theoretical predictions, especially for experiments performed in diffusive regime. This suggests important role of disorder in these experiments. In this paper we demonstrate how impurities present in ring modify the persistent current by generating or enhancing charge density waves. The electronic correlations are taken into account for both repulsive as well as attractive electron-electron interaction. The calculations are carried out for one-dimensional rings consisting of up to 12 lattice sites using Lanczös exact diagonalization approach, and for finite-width much larger rings using the Bogolyubov-de Gennes equations.
