Opis:
Coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) in Indonesia began to appear on March 2, 2020 and led to a number of fatalities. Spatial analysis is important to study the spatio-temporal trend of COVID-19 cases and fatalities to get a better understanding of the spread as well as to mitigate it. However, such a comprehensive study at national level is not to be seen in Indonesia with limited health infrastructure. This study aims to analyse the spatio-temporal distribution and clusters of COVID-19 in Indonesia for a year period. COVID-19 cases, as well as the fatalities as a consequence of this disease, were collected from the government through publicly shared data. A geographic information system (GIS) was used to manage and analyse the data on demographics, cases, and fatalities. The case fatality rate (CFR) was produced based on the number of cases and deaths per province weekly. The spatio-temporal data of both cases and fatalities were generated from the data. Finally, K-means clustering was employed to classify the cluster of Indonesia based on the proportion of vulnerable age groups, cases, and CFR. The results show that most of the provinces in Indonesia are affected by COVID-19, but the fatalities are not distributed evenly throughout the country. Based on the K-means clustering, two provinces are classified as moderate, namely the Province of East Kalimantan and North Kalimantan. The Province of Jakarta is classified as high, because the vulnerable age group there is highly correlated with the number of cases and deaths.

Opis:
Previous studies have indicated inconsistencies in utilizing the mobile application known as WhatsApp in academic vocabulary learning. This study attempts to overcome those inconsistencies by addressing three research aims, namely a) to examine any significant difference of employing vocabulary learning between using WhatsApp-based reporting and receiving on the one hand, and traditional-based reporting and receiving strategies on the other; (b) to determine the best predictor of vocabulary learning, and (c) to draw learners’ attitudes among the four types of strategies. A mixed randomized experimental type of research with pre-test and post-test design as well as survey design has been consecutively applied for these purposes. The results of the study reveal that English Academic Purposes (EAP) learners who expand their academic vocabulary using WhatsApp-based reporting activities achieve better having been exposed to these three different treatments. Learners’ endeavours to find out the mixed Indonesian-English vocabulary definitions by themselves, followed by reporting these to their teacher using WhatsApp turn out to be the best vocabulary learning predictor. Learners’ attitudes observed in this cohort also show positive responses. Since the aspect of familiarity with academic vocabulary learning is not incorporated into this study, future researchers may find filling up this lacuna worth pursuing

Opis:
The phenomenal growth of e-learning in the developed countries makes Indonesia going with the trend by investing massively in Information Technology and Communication (ICT) to push the country into a knowledge economy. However, e-learning - as the implementation of ICT in higher education - is not without challenges and failures as the technology cannot be perceived as a panacea. Many researchers and practitioners have acknowledged that e-learning as a future prospective medium of instruction encounters difficulties and challenges to implement successfully. The objective of study is to investigate the influential adoption factors to adopt new technologies drawn from recent technology adoption theories. Further, the present study examines the moderating impact of one Hofstede’s national culture dimensions (individualism-collectivism) toward adoption factors in adopting e-learning technology. The empirical data, which consists of 200 valid datasets, were collected from lecturers in Indonesia via self-administered paper-based questionnaire, and Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) was employed. The finding of this research advances our understanding of the dynamics of e-learning technologies and refines existing conclusions about perspectives of educators towards the adoption process of e-learning technologies. Further, the current gap between developed and developing countries on the effects of cultural dimensions provide an original reference on how the culture side influences the individuals’ behaviors when adopting new technology.

Opis:
The necessity to develop an optode array in order to probe the fetus oxygenation noninvasively regardless of the fetus position has been highlighted in previous literature. In this paper, a series of optical simulations are carried out to determine the best representation of optode array by using optical properties at systolic and diastolic states. The selection is based on the highest flux values accumulated at respective detectors. To accomplish the objective, a homogenous three-layer semi-infinite tissue model is implemented to represent the pregnant woman model. The geometry of the model as well as Monte Carlo simulation are carried out using commercial software, whereas the optical properties related to systolic and diastolic states are defined for all wavelengths. A statistical noise analysis is also introduced in order to find a sufficient number of rays to be launched into the optical tissue system.
