SummaryTe article describes the procedures for the foundation and closing down of state schools in Poland. It focuses on such procedures as applicable to schools administered by local government units at the gmina, powiat, or voivodeship levels. Looking the issue from the perspective of the diverse tiers of local government reflects of the structure of the schools in the Polish public educational system, where the overwhelming majority of schools are run by local government, while schools run by ministries or individuals and non-government legal entities make up a minority group in the system. Te article also discusses provisions for the closing down of schools in the public (state) educational system, and in particular Article 59 of Ustawa z 7 września 1991 r o systemie oświaty (the Education Act of 7 September 1991).
W artykule opisano procedury zakładania i likwidacji szkół publicznych w Polsce. Przede wszystkim skupiono się na omówieniu tworzenia i zamykania szkół publicznych, których organem prowadzącym są właściwie jednostki samorządu terytorialnego, to jest: gmina, powiat i województwo. Taki układ treści jest odzwierciedleniem struktury szkół w polskim systemie oświaty, w którym szkoły prowadzone przez jednostki samorządu terytorialnego zdecydowanie przeważają nad szkołami prowadzonymi przez ministrów oraz szkołami publicznymi prowadzonymi przez osoby fizyczne i inne niż jednostki samorządu terytorialnego osoby prawne. W artykule poruszono też kwestię likwidowania szkół publicznych. Szczegółowo został omówiony przepis art. 59 ustawy z 7 września 1991 r. o systemie oświaty.

This text contributes to the debate on the change in the way of teaching mathematics as it responds to the shifts caused by the transition to distance learning during the pandemic. The author analyses the conclusions of contemporary publications and international research alongside teaching experiences related to various aspects of the functioning of mathematics teachers, the efficacy and quality of their work as well as the issue of their education and improvement. In the course of literature research, probing questions on the pandemic-era school failures occurring in mathematics have clearly highlighted inequalities in the education system. The author analyses the application of ICT in distance learning, which has significantly stimulated processes and phenomena linked to the functioning of an individual in schooling. The time of the pandemic has exposed the shortcomings of the Polish education system and necessitated reflection on the future of Polish schooling. When the magnitude of failures in mathematics does not decrease but remains constant, it is imperative that the reason why it is the leading subject of school failures is determined. Therefore, it is important to establish the new role of the mathematics teacher in the process of changes prompted by distance learning.

Opis:
This paper is an attempt to look at parenthood in the context of supporting the child in the educational process. It emphasizes the idea that educational success and further achievement and well-being of the child largely depend on the way and quality of educational role performed by parents. Other important factors include parents’ social and professional status, financial situation as well as parental awareness and responsibility. The results of survey research used in this work show that the students of Rzeszów University Teaching Faculty see a considerable need of parental involvement in the teaching process of their offspring, which results mainly from a faulty school system. The findings of the research are useful for teaching practice. Firstly, it seems that nowadays there is a need to look for new solutions that would make school and teachers closer to the real needs and capabilities of children and their parents. On the other hand, there is also a growing need for intensified educational activity directed to parents and potential parents aimed primarily at developing responsible parenting attitudes.

The organisation of Piarist schools in the Commonwealth of Poland and Lithuania was mainly based on the provisions of the Piarist Order costitutions drawn by Joseph Calasanz. Part II titled „Constitutionum Congregationis Regularium Pauperum Matris Dei Scholarum Piarum” virtually focused on the education system. It set no rigid rules of teaching but gave the teacher a great deal of leeway in the selection of both the class topics and recommended reading. Calasanz’s constitutions were usually published in full by the specific provinces of the Order. In subsequent editions their contents were not changed but supplemented by further provisions set by the General Chapter and provincial chapters. This was in compliance with the assumptions adopted by Calasanz who took account of self-dependent actions in various provinces subject to the local opportunities and needs. Therefore the organisation of Piarist school system differed from one another in the provinces which may have made the impression of the lack of a normative document standardising operation of the Order educational units. Such a solution was, however, in compliance with the Piarist authorities’ assumptions. Each edition of the Order constitution in particular provinces contained the basic recommendations by Calasanz (which were finally revised by the General Chapter in 1694 and published by the superior general Joannes Franciscus Foci in Rome in 1698) and subsequent decisions by the General Chapter and the chapters of former provinces regarding the schools system organisation, selection of things to be taught and reading. The discretion in the organisation of schools, reading selection and openness to novelties or even experiments presumably allowed the Order to lay the foundations for the subsequent great reforms in a spirit of the Enlightenment in the territory of the then Commonwealth of Poland and Lithuania. Presumably, the Piarist „ratio studiorum” enabled the Order to overtake, in the 18th century, other orders topped by the Society of Jesus who had played a leading role in that field amongst Catholics until the middle of the 18th century. In the period in question, the prime educational task of the Piarist schools and other units connected with the Catholic Church was the education of the youth in piety which was intended to protect boys from the perpetration of misdeed. It was a common view that teaching itself, disregarding ‘the fear of God’ is incapable of producing desired educational effects. During lessons, teachers did not confine themselves to deliver the curriculum contents but they were supposed to mould a passion of the students for religion and virtue so as to make them being ‘intense members of the Catholic Church and the pride of society’. All student of the Piarist schools had to attend Holy Mass every day and on Sundays and festive occasions they had to take part in two services. Students who failed to do so were punished. Newcomers to schools were obliged to make their confession and receive Communion. Students sang litanies every Saturday at 3 p.m. During oratory services elder students, who were members of religious brotherhoods, listened to homilies while younger ones listened to catechism excerpts. In the Piarist schools everything began, was conducted, and ended ‘in the name of God and for the sake of His holy glory’.
