The principal notion of the article–a “backward catastrophe”– stands for a catastrophe which occurs unseen until it becomes recognized and which broadens its destructive activity until it has been recognized. This concept in the article has been referred to the Shoah. The main thesis is that the recognition of the actual influence of the Holocaust began in Polish culture in the mid-1980s (largely it started with the film by Claude Lanzmann Shoah and the essay by Jan Błoński Biedni Polacy patrzą na getto [“The Poor Poles Look at the Ghetto”]), that is when the question: “What happened to the Jews”, assumes the form: “Did the things that happened to the Jews, also happened to the Poles?”. Cognitive and ethical reorientation leads to the revealing of the hidden consequences of the Holocaust reaching as far as the present day and undermining the foundations of collective identity. In order to understand this situation (and adopt potentially preventive actions) Polish society should be recognized as a postcatastrophic one.

Effectiveness is the prism through which supply chains are defined. Different management methods can be used to measure supply chain effectiveness, such as life cycle assessment or sustainable supply chain management. In order to properly model and manage reverse supply chains for wood biomass, the structure of the supply chains was examined. For this purpose, a correlation analysis of the basic parameters of wood biomass reverse supply chains was carried out. After their identification, the level of mutual correlation was verified using Pearson's correlation coefficient. The coefficient of determination r2 was also verified for the two parameters with the highest degree of interaction – the sales of wood chips and the purchase of wood biomass. To improve the verification, scatter plots were made to further confirm the degree of interaction. As a result of the analysis of the parameter interdependencies and a discussion of the results of other international studies, the parameters were found to be applicable in modelling effective reverse supply chains of wood biomass.

The reverse annuity contracts and reverse mortgages are different and competitive products, often mistakenly identified with each other. The purpose of the article is to compare the products, present their essence, the method of the calculating of the received benefits value and an overview of the advantages and disadvantages. Moreover, there is included the ability to pay the marriage annuity, when both spouses are alive, and when one of them dies. The subject of the study is the amount of the annuity, when the future lifetimes of married couples are independent. There are considered the different cases of annuity due to the duration and the number of people joining the contract. The tool used to determine the value of benefits are the life and the certain annuities. The fixed interest rate and life tables from 2012 are considered in the calculations.

Opis:
The role of reverse logistics in creating added value for producers of plastics is presented here. The premise is the choice of reverse logistics for plastics on the one hand, considering their versatile applications, such as in the packaging, construction and automotive industries. On the other hand, an extremely important issue is that their production is characterized by high dynamics, has a significant impact on the environment, contributing significantly to the use of the valuable resource that is oil. This paper will focus on the economical and environmental optimization of reverse logistics processes in production enterprises. The presented article is part of a research project on developing application methods for the settlement of environmental-economic support for reverse logistics processes aimed at reducing consumption of energy and raw materials by plastics manufacturers, which ultimately translates into added value in terms of so-called environmental benefits.

The modern design process is based on multi-criteria optimization methods. They require at the initial stage collecting a maximum amount of reliable information. In the case of centrifugal compressor would be desirable to obtain specified performance maps in the form of a digital array. High-resolution arrays are suitable to interpolate values between their nodes. Access to digital resources is often limited, because they are an intellectual property of the certain companies. As a temporary replacement is possible, the use of the characteristics published as illustrative or design characteristics published from solutions of the previous generations. Presented article takes the issue of adapting simplified compressor characteristics to the requirements of PMDO (preliminary multidisciplinary optimization) process. Selected characteristics due to the low density of the contour lines on the map field was not suitable for direct conversion into digital form Presented map was reconstructed by the method of approximation using a polynomials of nth degree. Reverse engineered map generates correct values at compressor contour map nodes. Chosen method is characterized by low demands in terms of computational power requirements, which makes it suitable to use also in embedded microprocessor control systems. Main advantage of presented method is allowed to create a working replacement of digital map that can be used until time when inputs will be complemented by experimental data.

Appropriate management of waste streams is a very important part of business operations as it is reflected in the reduction in the flow and use of materials. It also minimizes negative impact on the environment. The article discusses the capabilities of Microsoft Dynamics NAV in the management of reverse logistics processes. We also developed a system supporting reverse logistics as a module for Microsoft Dynamics NAV. It automatically counts waste dividing them into appropriate groups. At the time of writing there was no direct support for waste management in the Dynamics NAV system.

Logistics of modernity embodies the principles and approaches without implementation of which it is not possible to talk about competitiveness of enterprise, about its future prospects of successful development. Logistics creates the conditions under which the flow (of materials, information, finance, humans) becomes the main indicator of enterprises "life", highlights the effectiveness of management, capacity in a particular field, emphasizes the weaknesses and opportunities to eliminate them, indicating the flexibility and sustainability of the enterprise to risk situations. Logistics as an instrument, as a process, as the technology is able to build a delay-free system of enterprise functioning, to create favourable conditions for cooperation with suppliers, intermediaries, dealers and distributors, to form a coordinated flow inside the company, to provide an adequate consumer loyalty through high level of logistics services.

The purpose of this study was to determine the changes of leachate quality on a selected municipal landfill with recirculation of concentrate from the reverse osmosis (RO) process. The research was carried out on an exploited municipal waste landfill, from which the samples of leachate, permeate and concentrate were collected in the years 2013-2015. The obtained samples were subjected to the physicochemical analysis, including the determination of general pollution parameters as well as organic and inorganic indicators. The obtained results showed that the concentrate recirculation resulted in intensification of the degradation processes in the waste body, expressed by the increase of biodegradability rate (BOD5/COD) and the value of conductivity and dissolved solids. Over time, the value of conductivity and dissolved solids stabilized; however, they reached the values higher than in conventional landfills. A characteristic feature of the long-recirculation landfills was a continuous increase in the concentration of ammonia nitrogen and COD values in the leachate.

Until recently logistics systems supported only processes carried out in classical material flow from producer to final user. Recently it has been a remarkable growth of interest in optimizing logistics processes that supports recapturing value from used goods. The process of planning, implementing, and controlling the efficient, cost effective flow of raw materials, in-process inventory, finished goods and related information from the point of consumption to the point of origin for the purpose of recapturing value or proper disposal is called reverse logistics. Reuse of product parts can bring direct advantages to the company because it reduces costs associated with acquiring new components. Main goal of this paper is to create the reverse logistics inventory model that uses the reliability theory to describe re-usability of product parts with assumption that recovered components are used in a production process but they aren’t as good as new ones. The model allows to estimate the potential profits of the reusing policy in production and inven-tory management. It gives the base to optimize some of the process parameters: the threshold work time of returns, the warranty period for products containing reused elements or new components order size.

The paper deals with a highly topical issue og Logistics which is called Reverse logistics. The flows of products in supply chains don't end in the moment when they reach the customer. Many products lead second, third or even fourth life after accomplishing their original function. It means that products can generate the value in supply chain more than once. To capture this value we must expand the original supply chain to include new processes that we call reverse logistics. The key to maximizing the value is coordinating the successive product uses in supply chain.

A cleaning possibility of low (BD) and high ash content (IM) lignites in NaCl solutions using a reverse flotation technique was studied. Preliminary test results indicated that BD lignite cannot be cleaned effectively in the traditional manner because gangue was floated first rather than a combustible material. Further studies indicated that the lignite cleaning in NaCl solutions using the reverse flotation technique is possible. However, a large quantity of dodecyl amine hydrochloride (DAH) was required. A lower ash content in a concentrate can be obtained by addition of NaCl. A concentrate yield can be im-proved by addition of starch. Under the test conditions, for BD lignite with the ash content in the feed 15.19%, the ash content in the concentrate 11.44% and the concentrate yield 67.38% were obtained. Similarly, for IM lignite with the ash content in the feed 57.40%, the ash content in the concentrate 32.90% and the concentrate yield 25.08% were obtained. The flotation rate constant k and maximum ash recovery ε∞ significantly increased with the NaCl concentration.

The paper discusses the problem of selection of objective function in modelling of the reverse logistics network entity location. A growing ecological awareness of societies as well as implementing concepts of manufacturer responsibility for their products result in a creation of systems of collecting and treatment of end-of-life products. Rather than being a random process a reverse logistics network should be designed as an effect of informed decisions taking into account all aspects and points of view of the stakeholders. A key issue in network design related to the use of decision support tools based on mathematical optimization is the appropriate selection of the objective function for evaluation of the potential solutions.
