In her review the author compares the narrations about the war and the Shoah which were published in 2015: a report by Magdalena Grzebałkowska entitled 1945. Wojna i pokój andMała zagłada by Anna Janko. The basis of the comparison is constituted by the Shoah of the Jews as the common, although secondary theme of both books, its influence upon the socialimagination and the rhetoric of both narrations. Apart from indicating the strong points of the narrations, which include an in‑depth study of the archive materials associated with the end of the war (Grzebałkowska) or the presentation of the problem – which was hardly present in the writings devoted to the war and occupation in Poland (the pacification of the village Sochy in the Zamojszczyzna region in 1943, of which Janko’s family fell victim), Marta Tomczok directs her attention to the weaknesses of such discourse, especially in reference to Mała zagłada. These weaknesses include: the intensification of the suffering of the recipient, effected through the juxtaposition in one book of the greatest massacres of children in the history of the world and the rhetoric of the Shoah transposed into the area of the stories about the war sufferings of the Poles. Janko presents both narrations, the Polish and the Jewish one, as mutually competitive.

    Every individual listening to the word of God, delivered either in the Holy Mass homily or parish catechesis, lives in a speci c cultural environment, sometimes referred to as a “small home- land”. It provides the “regional context” of preaching. This paper presents the inspiring role of this “context” in contemporary preaching of the Gos- pel. In view of dominant globalization trends, this context seems to gain increasing importance. To avoid misunderstanding, the paper starts with presenting necessary de nitions, such as the meaning of the term: “homily”, “parish catechesis” or “regional context”. Since the realization of the word of God delivered during the homily or parish catechesis always takes place in a speci c life of an individual who lives, works or rests in a speci c local community and who is immersed in its cul- ture, the signi cance of this context in preaching the word of God is demonstrated. Additionally, the paper presents the content of the regional culture to be used both in the homily and in the parish catechesis. In this context, homiletic and catechetical suggestions are indicated, among which the need for spiritual sensitivity and openness of homilists and catechists to the values of cultural heritage of the region comes to the fore.

    The aim of this article is to present the problem of capital letters from the perspective of Spanish-Polish legal translations. The focus of the article lies on the titles of legal acts because it allows to show the mutual relations between linguistic, legal and translatory norms. At the beginning the problem of capitalization is presented from a general point of view. This is followed by a contrastive analysis of orthographic rules in Spanish and Polish, which demonstrates visible differences between those two languages. Furthermore, the influence of the extralinguistic factors and the usage created by the community of practice (Wegner 1998) on the translation of specialized texts is explained.

    Classics of Polish Design. Post-War Polish Furniture Design the paper presents a review of Polish post-war design in the times of Polish People's Republic: in the 1950s and 1960s. It is the first paper in the series of "Classical Polish Design", presenting the results of research on Polish furniture and the icons of Polish design, carried out within the framework of dissertations in the Department of Wood Technology in the Warsaw University of Life Sciences (SGGW). The paper presents two main trends in Polish post-war design, together with their background. We analysed the development of industrial design and of mass production dedicated for mass users, as well as the education system for industrial designers. We present the concept of furniture for small living spaces and the impact of global trends, availability of new materials and technological solutions on Polish furniture design.
    Klasyka polskiego designu. Powojenne polskie wzornictwo meblowe. Celem artykułu jest przybliżenie problematyki powojennego wzornictwa polskiego czasów PRL-u, czyli lat 50. i 60. Artykuł inauguruje cykl „Klasyka polskiego designu”, prezentujący wyniki badań nad powojennym polskim meblarstwem i ikonami polskiego designu, prowadzonych w ramach prac dyplomowych na WTD SGGW. W artykule określono główne tendencje w polskim wzornictwie powojennym i ich uwarunkowania. Przeanalizowano rozwój wzornictwa przemysłowego, rozwór produkcji masowej przeznaczonej dla masowego odbiorcy i system kształcenia projektantów przemysłowych. Przedstawiono ideę mebli dla małych mieszkań oraz wpływ tendencji światowych, czy dostępności nowych materiałów i możliwości technologicznych na polskie projekty mebli.

    Manuscripts of the Servant of God sister Benigna Konsolata Ferrero, carefully studied by her confessor, Father Luigi Boccardo, were printed shortly after her death. Even though she already bore the title of “Apostle of Mercy,” no one at that time could have guessed that she would become one of the earliest precursors of the Divine Mercy. One of the first to discover the character of Sr. Benigna Konsolata was Father Michal (Michael) Sopoćko, the confessor of Saint Sister Faustina Kowalska. Already knowing the message of his penitent, he revealed the similarities between the two messages. The purpose of the message dictated to the Servant of God is devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and reveals His greatest attribute, which is the Mercy of God.

    Artykuł nawiązuje do książki Anny Janko Mała Zagłada. Jego celem jest przedstawienie, jak tragiczne, choć nieprzeżyte osobiście wydarzenia wpływają na życie kolejnego po bezpośrednio doświadczającym traumy pokolenia. Matka autorki, będąc dzieckiem, jako jedna z nielicznych przeżyła wojenną masakrę we wsi Sochy na Zamojszczyźnie i całe życie zmaga się z zapamiętanym okrucieństwem tamtych wydarzeń. Jej córka zna wojnę tylko z opowieści matki, przez międzypokoleniowy przekaz pamięci, ale doświadcza podobnych do matki syndromów. Narracja literacka okazuje się remedium na doznaną traumę obu pokoleń – doświadczonego bezpośrednio wojną i pokolenia postpamięci. Relacjonując losy matki, Janko stawia się w pozycji potomka ocalałych, ale też ofiary, która musi zmierzyć się z tą odziedziczoną traumą. Ponadto, jako że pamięć społeczna o wojnie jest obecnie zdominowana przez inne narracje, książka Anny Janko wyprowadza wspomniane wojenne wydarzenia z marginesu pamięci społecznej.
    The article refers to the book by Anna Janko A Little Annihilation: A Memoir (Mała Zagłada) and its aim is to present how tragic events, although not experienced personally, affect the life of the next generation after directly experienced trauma. The author’s mother, as a child, was one of the few who survived the war massacre in the village Sochy and struggles all her life with the remembered cruelty of those events. Her daughter knows the war only from her mother’s storytelling, through the intergenerational memory message, but she experiences similar syndromes to her mother. The literary narrative turns out to be a remedy for the experienced trauma of both generations – directly suffered by the war and the post-memory generation. By reporting on her mother’s fate, Janko puts herself in the position of a descendant of the survivors, but also of a victim who must face with this inherited trauma. Moreover, as the social memory of the war is currently dominated by other narratives, Anna Janko’s book takes the mentioned war events out of the margins of social memory.

    Badanie współczesnego stanu i tendencji rozwoju wielu krajów i regionów w warunkach transformacji politycznej, socjalnej i gospodarczej pozwala wnioskować, że w przypadku większości transformujących się krajów można obserwować istotne negatywne czynniki prowadzące do pogorszenia warunków życia, ograniczenia praw i wol-ności, zmniejszenia możliwości rozwój gospodarczego i obniżenia satysfakcji z zaspokojenia potrzeb z bardziej zaawansowanych w kierunku podstawowych. W artykule analizowane są ukraińskie i zagraniczne doświadczenia w zakresie polityki państwa wobec prowadzenia biznesu. Zaprezentowane zostały wyniki analizy najważniejszych wskaźników dotyczących MŚP na Ukrainie. Oceniony został również wpływ polityki państwa na kształtowanie aktywności przedsiębiorczej na Ukrainie. Na podstawie przeprowadzonej analizy przedstawiono propozycje poprawy klimatu gospodarczego w celu zagwarantowania wzrostu sektora małej i średniej przedsiębiorczości.
    A study of the current state and tendencies of development of many countries and re-gions in terms of transforming the political, social and market environment leads to the conclusion that most of the territories and their population at the turn of 2015-2016 years is subject to significant influence of negative factors, leading to a deterioration in living conditions, violation of rights and freedoms, reduction of diverse opportunities and redistribution aspirations to meet the needs of the more advanced the most simple. Foreign and home experience of public policy is investigated in relation to doing busi-ness. Results over of analysis of dynamics of indexes of small and middle business of Ukraine entities are brought and influence of public policy is estimated on forming of enterprise activity in a country. On the basis of the conducted research suggestions are given in relation to the improvement of enterprise climate with the purpose of providing of height of sector of small and middle enterprise.
