Opis:: Artykuł przedstawia przypadek leczenia wrzodu rogówki u psa rasy bokser. Wrzód ten określany jest terminem "trudnogojący się" lub "indolent ulcer". Wrzody tego typu są predylekcyjne dla niektórych ras psów. Powstają często spontanicznie i niestety często mogą nawracać. istota choroby polega na oddzielaniu się nabłonka rogówki od jej istoty właściwej. Przyczyną tego może być wada hemidesmosomów, które odpowiadają za przyleganie nabłonka do stromy lub też procesy zwyrodnieniowe stromy rogówki. W obrazie klinicznym, po wybarwieniu rogówki za pomocą fluoresceiny, widoczne jest podciekanie barwnika pod warstwy rogówki. Istnieje kilka metod leczenia tego typu owrzodzenia. wymienić należy; keratotomię, powierzchowną keratektomię, chirurgiczne usunięcie martwego nabłonka rogówki. Leczeniu chirurgicznemu zawsze towarzyszy leczenie farmakologiczne. W naszym przypadku u psa zastosowaliśmy leczenie za pomocą keratotomii kratkowej skojarzonej z leczeniem farmakologicznym.
A case of indolent ulcer in a Boxer is described. An indolent ulcer is a ulcer which fails to heal in the expected time. These ulcers are often breed-related, develop spontaneously and may be considered to represent a primary corneal epithelial or superficial stroma dystrophy. It is caused by a failure of attachment between the basal epithelium to the underlying membrane. There are several methods that will facilitate healing; debridement, keratotomy, superficial keratectomy and medical treatment.

Opis:: Today, current problems and pneumonia, gastric ulcers, which can be regarded as an independent disease or as a complication. In this paper we describe the contents of cytokines (CC) in the blood during the early period of experimental pneumonia disease and stomach ulcers. For the experiment, we selected two models of disease: experimental pneumonia (EP) and peptic ulcer (PU). Materials and methods. The study was conducted on 39 male guinea pigs, weighing 180 - 210 g test animals were divided into three groups. The experimental pneumonia caused by the method Shlyapnykova V. N., Solodova T. L., gastric ulcer simulated method Komarov V. I. All guinea pigs carried determine the concentration of cytokines: TNF-α, IL-6 and IL-10 in serum using ELISA (ELISA) using the kits of the company «Diaclone» (France), according to the enclosed instructions. Digital statistical results processed by using Student's criterion. Results and discussion. In the study of the system EP and cytokines in VHSH found that in the test day of the experiment were as likely changes in the content of proinflammatory and antiinflammatory cytokines compared with the group of intact animals Results and discussion, CC proinflammatory IL-6 was found to increase its concentration to 61.1% (r≤0,05) on the fourth day, the eighth day of the disease models, this figure increased by 68.9% (r≤ 0.05) compared with kotrolem. A similar trend was observed from the following cytokines - TNF-α, which is typical of proinflammatory cytokines and other markers of generalized non-specific inflammation. There was increase in this indicator in fourth and eighth days of TNF-α respectively 59.4% (r≤0,05) and 65.6% (r≤0,05) relatively intact group of porpoises. Consequently, studies cytokine profile in serum under conditions established experimental models of diseases increase in the pool of inflammatory CC. Analysis of anti-inflammatory cytokine IL-10 for 4 days and VHSH EP showed its reduction by 22.5% (r≤0,05) when compared to the 1st group of animals experiment. Reduction of the Central Committee observed for 8 days at 31.4% (r≤0,05) compared with control animals. Thus, the study of cytokines (TNF-α, IL-6 and IL-10) showed increase in proinflammatory and anti-inflammatory interleukins decline, indicating that the balance between pro- and anti-inflammatory CC.

Opis:: The guideline titled “Prevention and treatment of pressure ulcers: clinical practice guideline” is the result of a collaborative effort between the National Pressure Ulcer Advisory Panel (NPUAP), European Pressure Ulcer Advisory Panel (EPUAP) and Pan Pacific Pressure Injury Alliance (PPPIA). A comprehensive literature review was conducted on pressure ulcer prevention and treatment. Rigorous scientific methodology was used to appraise available research and make evidence-based recommendations for the prevention and treatment of pressure ulcers. Draft guidelines were made available to 986 invited individual stakeholders and organizations or societies, and the feedback of the stakeholders was taken under consideration by the developers of the guideline. The guideline includes 575 explicit recommendations and/or research summaries for multidisciplinary pressure ulcer topics.

Opis:: Peripheral ossifying fibroma (POF) is a non-neoplastic lesion, of uncertain aetiology, that originates from the gums or interdental papillae of the anterior maxilla. . It is most prevalent in the anterior maxilla –in women in the second and third decades of life. The lesion is well-defined with a sessile base and a surface similar in colour to mucosa or red, which may be intact or ulcerated. Clinical features do not confirm the diagnosis of this lesion, which requires histopathology. Our patient - B.M.S, a 23-year-old woman sought help of the Symptomatology Clinic at the School of Dentistry of the Federal University of Paraná, complaining of a “cold sore in the gum” for approximately one month. Clinical examination showed an erythematous area with central ulceration in the gingival margin and attached to the buccal region of tooth 22. Periodontal examination showed absence of bleeding, a periodontal pocket and absence of bone loss in the radiographs. There were no relevant findings in the auxiliary studies. Excisional biopsy was taken and the histopathological examination revealed the presence of dense fibrous stroma of collagen fibres, intermingled with fibroblasts, trabecular bone and a few giant cells, confirming the diagnosis. There was recurrence of the lesion. Surgical excision of the recurrent lesion was performed, including the removal of the periosteum and ligament, accompanied by dental scaling. It was concluded that further differential diagnosis was necessary to rule out clinically similar lesions to POF such as fibrous hyperplasia, peripheral giant cell granuloma and pyogenic granuloma. These lesions can mimic ulcers and therefore it is necessary to conduct histopathological examination to make the diagnosis. Furthermore, in order to minimize the tendency of recurrence of POF, it is essential to remove the underlying periosteum and periodontal ligament in addition to biofilm and calculus.

Opis:: Urease is an important virulence factor for Helicobacter pylori and Proteus mirabilis as well as in environmental transformations of certain nitrogenous compounds. Urea hydrolysis caused by these microorganisms leads to increased pH and ammonia toxicity and enables bacterial colonization of the human gastric mucosa and urinary tract formation of struvite and carbonate-apatite stones. Due to the possibility of medical applications the development of novel, selective and efficient classes of urease inhibitors which satisfy the low toxicity requirement for human health and have low environmental impact is necessary. In this article are described the various urease inhibitors used so far by researchers, especially in the last few years.

Opis:: The report presents the case of a patient treated surgically for perforated gastroenterocolic fistula with a concomitant abscess in abdominal integuments and symptoms of the digestive tract blockage. Many months before this surgery the patient had undergone gastric resection and hepaticoenterostomy (Roux-Y) due to inflammatory tumor causing pyrolostenosis and including the peripheral part of the common bile duct. After the surgery, the patient suffered from recurrent abdominal pain which resulted in many hospitalizations. After one of the episodes of complaints, the patient with symptoms of the digestive tract blockage was admitted again to our ward, prepared to the surgery and qualified for the surgical intervention. En bloc resection of the stomach, hepaticoenterostomy and partial resection of the transverse colon were performed. The continuity of the digestive tract was restored by gastroenterostomy with the isolated jejunal loop, anastomosis between the hepatic loop and side of the afferent loop and end-to-end anastomosis of the transverse colon. There were no postoperative complications. The authors point out circumstances affected on decision to postpone the surgery by the patient despite frequent recurrent complaints after primary surgery and numerous previous hospitalizations.
