The aim of the paper is to describe the column as a type of text. This text type has its roots back in the 19th century France. But at the beginning this text type had a totally different character, different form, aim and features. It was a part of newspaper, where novels, critiques and poems were posted. Nowadays there may occur a problem to define the term ‘column’. Generally it is the text type with a polemical and derisive character, which serves as the entertainment, but sometimes the term ‘column’ still refers to a part of the newspaper. This article defines the term and how this text type has developed through the time.

The article focuses on the history of the Book of Revelation of St. John the Theologian among Orthodox Slavs in the Middle Ages. The aim is to present its place among the other biblical books, related to Cyril and Methodius’ literary tradition and follow its origin, its way of life and spreading in the Slavia Orthodoxa. The two main versions of the distribution of the book are presented – without interpretations and with the interpretations of St. Andrew of Caesarea, while the specifics of the basic versions of the book are also presented (East Slavonic and South Slavic versions with commentaries, Bosnian Cyrillic version, the earliest Serbian transcript, Croatian Glagolitic fragments, Bulgarian calendar version). An opinion has been expressed that a common initial translation is at the root of all these versions of the book, which was accompanied by interpretations, and probably made in Bulgaria at the end of 9th–10th C. Subsequently, it has been edited at different Times and in different locations, placed in the composition of different collections, or as a separate book.

Artykuł, zainspirowany poglądami Daniela Ferrera na genetyczną wariację jako proces zbudowany z wielu powiązań, a nie serię wolnych operacji podporządkowanych innym operacjom, przedstawia literacką genezę jako grę wariacji. Reguły gry można jedynie wstępnie rozpoznać po zidentyfikowaniu jej składników wynikających z tekstu i dokumentu. W artykule szczególną uwagę poświęcam analizie wariacji in absentia, czyli sytuacji, w której choć zapisana jest tylko jedna wersja tekstu, można zestawić ją z wersją, która będzie bliższa czytelnikowi (bądź bardziej oczekiwana). Wariacja in absentia jest istotna dla analizy zarówno tekstowych, jak i materialnych aspektów procesu pisania (np. zmiany układu na stronie, zmiany długopisu, zastąpienia pomocy pisarskich). W artykule śledzę ten rodzaj wariacji na podstawie szkiców Os Degraus do Parnaso (Stopnie na Parnas), kolekcji esejów wszechstronnego pisarza i analitycznego filozofa M.S. Lourenço (1936–2009). Dokładna interpretacja tekstowych oraz materialnych stałych i zmiennych, w zakresie pisowni i użycia narzędzi pisania, prowadzi do wniosku, że przypadki w tekście (elementy, które według W.W. Grega wpływają jedynie na formalną prezentację) nie są zawsze przypadkowe w genezie literackiej.
The article, inspired by Daniel Ferrer’s view of genetic variation as a process built of many interconnections, rather than a series of free operations subordinated to other operations, presents literary genesis as a game of variation. The rules of the game can only be tentatively discern by identifying its components from text and document. In the article, I devote special attention to the analysis of variations in absentia, i.e. a situation in which, although only one version of the text is written, it can be compared with a version that is closer to the reader (or more expected). Variation in absentia is essential for analyzing both textual and material aspects of the writing process (e.g. page layout changes, pen changes, replacing writing aids). In this article, I follow this kind of variation from the sketches of Os Degraus do Parnaso (The Steps to Parnas), a collection of essays by the versatile writer and analytical philosopher M.S. Lourenço (1936–2009). Accurate interpretation of textual and material constants and variables, in terms of spelling and the use of writing tools, leads to the conclusion that cases in the text (elements that, according to W.W. Greg, affect only formal presentation) are not always accidental in literary genesis.

The article presents the expediency of using different types and methods of interpreting words and emphasises the importance of exemplifications in dialect lexicography. The practice of publishing thematic dictionaries has shown that in the case of dialect dictionaries of the differential type there is a need to use extensive text, that is, exemplification, which is linguistically interpreted as clarification of the meaning of a word by way of examples. In dialect dictionaries, exemplification is of particular importance as it complements and expands the set of ways of conveying the meaning of a word already known in lexicography, such as interpretation through the description of an object or its part; interpretation through concepts; interpretation through the selection of a literary counterpart (translation from another language); interpretation through the selection of synonyms or antonyms, etc. The interpretation of the lexeme through the text is superimposed on one of the ways of explaining the meaning used in the dictionary article. Exemplification is considered to be a cultural phenomenon that has its own unique semantics, created by accumulating ritual terms, phraseological units, verbs with magical meaning, names of household items. In ritual texts, these are also nominations that specify the plan of the text in terms of realia, action, agentivity, time and space. The semantic centre of such texts are the names of rituals and their attributes, the names of magical actions, etc.
Artykuł omawia celowość stosowania różnych rodzajów i metod interpretacji wyrazów oraz podkreśla znaczenie egzemplifikacji w leksykografii gwarowej. Praktyka wydawania słowników tematycznych pokazuje, że w słownikach gwarowych typu dyferencyjnego zachodzi potrzeba posługiwania się obszernym tekstem, czyli egzemplifikacją, co w językoznawstwie interpretowane jest jako wyjaśnianie znaczenia wyrazu za pomocą przykładów. W słownikach gwarowych egzemplifikacja nabiera szczególnego znaczenia, gdyż uzupełnia i poszerza znany już w leksykografii zestaw sposobów oddawania znaczenia wyrazu takich jak: interpretacja poprzez opis przedmiotu lub jego części; interpretacja poprzez pojęcia; interpretacja poprzez wybór odpowiednika literackiego (przekład z innego języka); interpretacja poprzez wybór synonimów lub antonimów itp. Na jeden ze sposobów wyjaśniania znaczenia zastosowany w artykule słownikowym nakłada się interpretacja leksemu poprzez tekst. Egzemplifikacja jest uważana za zjawisko kulturowe, które ma swoją własną, unikalną semantykę tworzoną przez nagromadzenie terminów rytualnych, frazeologizmów, czasowników o znaczeniu magicznym, nazw przedmiotów użytku domowego. W tekstach obrzędowych są to również nominacje określające plan tekstu pod względem realemów, akcji, agentywności, czasu i przestrzeni. Centrum semantyczne takich tekstów stanowią nazwy obrzędów i ich atrybutów, nazwy czynności magicznych itp.

The article analyzes Boris Pasternak’s Poeziya (Poetry) from the cycle Neskuchny Sad. The cycle is the kind of a link between two poetic books of Boris Pasternak: Sestra moya – zhizn’ (My sister – Life) and Temy i variatsii (Themes and variations). We dwell in detail on the comparison of this text with the poem Opredeleniye poezii (Definition of poetry) from the book Sestra moya – zhizn’. We are mainly interested in the asemantic level of texts – their sound and rhythmic organization. The analyzed structure allows us to trace the dynamics of the images and the changes that took place in the poetic style of Boris Pasternak in the 1920s.

This article tracks briefly the history of the development of psychoac - centuation theory, which was transferred from the subject of study in medicine to the linguistic field. It outlines aspects of studies of this problem in the modern East Slavic psycholinguistics (namely, linquo-stylistic, linguo-conceptual, communicative, pedagogical, and methodological). An application of the methodology of psychoaccentuation makes it possible to identify the principal traits of personality without any evidence of norm breach, mental disorders encoded in the communication, artistic language, personality discourse and genres of speech. The article discusses psychiatrist K. Leongard’s pioneer research on the clinical traits of accentuated personalities and the nature of accentuated personalities in the fiction text. His ideas were further developed by doctor A. Lychko, who laid the groundwork for the study of accentuation in the field of linguistics. Although the theory was sufficiently grounded and substantiated Leongard’s ideas were not embraced by East Slavic linguistics immediately: the Soviet era limited the functional capabilities of psycholinguistics as a science. Late 20th and early 21st century marked an increase in psycholinguistic research, but it was focused mainly on artistic texts (discourse) as well as communicative and pedagogical activities, while Leongard’s ideas drew the attentionof linguists. The present study offers a classification of texts based on the theory of accentuation developed by V. Belianin. It highlights the evolution of the main ideas of psychoaccentuation and aspectual studies of artistic texts (phrase field theory) and the relevance of this theory for the development of conceptual linguistics, communicative linguistics and methodology of teaching foreign languages as promoted in the works of Russian scholars (T. Inkina, V. Lialina, T. Prokofiev, O. Gurianichev, I. Mazyrka). In addition, the article examines the research by Ukrainian linguists, who were mostly preoccupied with the actualization of linguistic and generic aspects of psychoaccentuation (Ya.Bondarenko, V, Papish) as well as the potential of text research in the psycholinquistic field, making references to the work conducted by Byelorussian scholars (V. Maslova, O. Ulanovych). The novelty of the article is that it for the first time synthesizes scholars’ views on the implementation of the theory of accentuation, while confirming the relevance of the accentuation approach in analysing linguistic facts. Based on the generalized results, a conclusion is made about the dynamic character of the issue under discussion and the possibility of further in-depth research and implementation in the new interpretive linguistics fields.

Main topic of this paper is the stylistic structure of the orations of Grigor Prlichev, which were written and performed by the occasion of different religious holidays or dedicated for the end of the study year at different schools where he was teaching throughout Macedonia.Several specifics are to be taken in consideration: elements of cohesion, different ways of addressing, some syntactic characteristics, use of style figures etc. The intonation used by the author should also be taken in regard, although it can- not be subject to analysis for obvious reasons.One of the most important specifics is the use of lithurgical elements, comparisons with biblical motives, use of rhetorical questions, ways of addressing the public with intention of establishing familiarity etc. There is also, frequent use of developed poetic images, dialogues with a purpose of developing the topie and promotion of the didactic function. This analysis is a contribution to the further study of the composition of the orations of Grigor Prlichev.

The subject of this article’s research is the problem of translation of poetic texts on the basis of a poem Метель by Boris Pasternak. The work aims to analyse certain mechanisms and processes involved in the translation of poetic texts which are not limited to the rhythmical layer but also include lexical and phonological dimension. The article examines strategies of translation created by Adam Pomorski, a critic, essayist and recognised translator of Russian, German and English belles-letters, and a chairman of the Polish PEN Club. Pomorski reckons that translation is a “reconstruction of the prototype” within the norms and conventions, while all rest is a result of individual style. While cre- ating literature, some artists recall the sounds that they associate with the literary pictures. This way, the language goes beyond the sematic layer of a work, while trying to imitate the sounds through onomatopoeic words, acoustic expressions and also other ways that influence the rhythmisation of a poem and bring out the connotation to the musical side of things. We will try to investigate how the poetic word of a prototype changed upon a translation on the basis of a Метель poem Pasternak.

Sofia Gubaidulina is one of the most important composers living today. Among her many works acknowledged and awarded prizes on the international forum, the diptych St John Passion and St John Easter [The Resurrection of Christ according to St John], the opus magnum of that outstanding Russian composer, occupies a special place. This work focuses the most important features of her music, such as a profound theological message based on a compilation of fragments from the Old Testament, Gospels and the Apocalypse of St John, as well as her musical rootedness in the cultural tradition of the churches of both East and West. Gubaidulina adapts the achievements of the artistic avant-garde in new and original ways, while at the same time she is an ardent champion of traditional universal values grounded in the message of the Bible and Christian cultural tradition. This paper presents St John Passion by Sofia Gubaidulina in the context of its theological and intercultural dialogue, as well as attempting to characterise the phenomenon represented by this composer, who raises anew reflection on the fate of humankind in the context of existential questions, while remaining faithful to the idea of high art, exquisite and open to various understandings of the idea of beauty.

The article is a project of literary classes addressed to high school students, devoted to discussing the theme of the Seine drowned woman, a mysterious figure found at the end of the 19th century, whose death mask – due to a delicate smile – became popular all over the world. The story of an anonymous teenager has inspired writers, poets, playwrights, philosophers, painters, architects, and journalists of various times and spaces. She fascinated, among others, Stanisław Grochowiak, Mela Muter, Antoni Kaminski and Aleksander Gierymski, as well as the literary scholar Stanisław Rosiek, who in his article, writing about the importance of death masks in the culture of the nineteenth century, also referred to the figure of the girl.

The dynamics of developing a scientific text reflects the dynamics of a cognitive process. At the same time the changing of the knowledge available in the text from hypothetical to more valid is fulfilled according to the principle of its pithy and thematic accessibility for the broad continuum of special scientific information: proper new knowledge of a researcher becomes scientific only under conditions of its going into the system of available knowledge.The text analysis shows that the old and knew knowledge conflict in scientific communication is not a conflict, but a dialectical unity. The interaction between already known and knew is fulfilled according to the principle of altemation of old and knew knowledge components. It is realized in two ways: I ) as an interaction between components of scientifically known and scientifically unknown (author's) knowledge - intertextual alternation. 2) as an interaction between the knowledgeknown according to a certain communication, expressed in the left context and the components of new knowledge, unknown from a certain text and for the first time expressed in it - intratextual alternation. lt is important that inter- and intratextual altemation pierces through the whole text and thus is normative for a scientific style. Expressing of the scientifically new knowledge always takes place in "arrangement" of the old (scientific and communicational) knowledge and the "arrangement" is made by author. We can say that the expressing of new knowledge goes according to the principle: "the necessary maximum of old + the possible minimum of new.
