The aim of this investigation was to determine the effectiveness of rating of perceived exertion (RPE) scale to measure plyometric exercise intensity during low (L), moderate (M) and high (H) intensity. Fourteen physically active students (age; 21±1.1 y, height; 178.7±8.2 cm and body mass; 74.6±9.1 kg) volunteered to participate in this study and performed each intensity once separated with 24 h recovery. The H consisted of 1 set of 5 repetitions at 90% of the subject’s vertical jump height (VJH). The M consisted of 10 repetitions at 70% VJT, and the L consisted of 1 set of 15 repetitions at 50% VJH. RPE was measured following the completion each intensity using 0-10 Borg RPE scale. Data was analyzed using repeated measures ANOVA and the level of significant was set at p < 0.05. The results indicated increases in RPE following enhancing exercise intensity (p < 0.05). Performing fewer repetitions at a higher intensity was perceived to be more difficult than performing more repetitions at a lower intensity. The results of the current investigation revealed that the RPE method is effective in monitoring different plyometric exercise and training intensities and it can be recommend that strength and conditioning professionals and athletes use the RPE method based on the effectiveness tool for monitoring their plyometric exercise and training sessions at different intensities.

Opis:
We examined optimal cyclic uniaxial stretches for stem cell-to-tenocyte differentiation by applying a wide range of cyclic mechanical stimuli. Human bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (hBMSCs) were subjected to three types of cyclic elongation of 5%, 10%, or 15% at a cyclic frequency of 1 Hz for 24 h or 48 h, and differentiation into tenocytes was assessed by two methods: real-time polymerase chain reaction determination of gene expression levels and western blotting analysis of protein expression levels. The gene expression levels of the differentiation markers type I collagen (Col I), type III collagen (Col III), tenascin-C (Tnc), and scleraxis (Scx), all of which are constituents of tendon tissue, were increased when cells were exposed to 10% stretching stimulation. The levels of Col I and Tnc protein synthesis levels were also higher in the cells with 10% stretching stimulation than in those subjected to other stimuli. The results indicated that 10% stretching stimulus was efficient to induce the differentiation of hBMSCs into tenocytes. In addition, the changes in gene and protein expression levels were strongly correlated with cell orientation angle. The results presented here suggest that mesenchymal stem cell-to-tenocyte differentiation is strongly associated with cumulative elongation load on the cells. This work provides novel insights into the differentiation of tenogenesis in a strain-induced environment and supports the therapeutic potential of hBMSCs.

Opis:
The work presents an algorithm for the calculation of the consumption of stretch foil used to wrap cylindrical bales of fodder in order to isolate the fodder from the air and other external factors. Mechanical properties of the foil, its arbitrary dimensions and any overlapping width of subsequent wrapped foil layers ware taken into account. A simulation program was written that allows to compute the number of foil layers in the bale lateral surface as a function of the width of the foil, the angle of the bale's rotation around its axis and the number of wrappings. The computer program contains graphical module which allows visualization of geometry of the distribution of subsequent foil strips and the arrangement of foil layer in a bale cross-section. The length and surface area of the foil taken from the roll are computed for different variants of the wrapping process. The computational example is presented for two geometrically different ways of wrapping and different initial widths of the foil. Conclusions and suggestions were formulated as a result of the simulation.

Opis:
Damage to cargo in transport occurs as a result of improper securing of cargo, which causes not only material losses due to partial or complete damage to cargo, but may threaten the safety of participants in the distribution of cargo in the distribution chain. Dangers, difficulties and costs caused by human errors in packing and securing cargo in all modes of transport can be remedied and certainly significantly reduced. The best way to achieve this goal is to build the awareness of the great need for proper packaging and securing the cargo in a way that ensures the safety of all participants in the distribution chain among producers, distributors and carriers. The article discusses the problem of rational use of stretch film as the most frequently used method of securing loads. Author indicated necessity to develop methods and procedures for the proper protection of palletized loads with the use of stretch film to reduce the amount of stretch film used while ensuring proper load security, increase the safety and better protection to the environment of the planet and its natural resources.

The paper describes two optimization problems for minimization of the consumption of the stretch foil (film) used for wrapping bales to impart bale stability. The first problem consists in the optimal design of foil width. The foil consumption per unit of the bale volume index is used as a measure of foil expenditure. In the second problem a fixed volume of the bale silage must be optimally wrapped by stretch foil and the optimal bale dimensions (diameter, height) are sought out. Mechanical properties of the sealing foil characterized by its Poisson ratio are taken into account. The paper presents optimal and suboptimal solutions to both the problems. The formulas for computing optimal and near-optimal foil width and bale size dimensions are given and estimations of the solution errors are discussed. Simulation results are presented and analyzed for exemplary bale silage.

Aspects of mathematical modelling of wrapping round (i.e. cylindrical) bale related to the optimization of foil consumption are considered for individual bales of agricultural materials wrapped in plastic foil. The article details the mathematical description of bale wrapping, while also identifying both some solved problems and a few open ones, which can be solved to optimize the foil consumption. Mechanical properties of the sealing foil characterized by its Poisson ratio, arbitrary foil and bale size dimensions and overlapping width of subsequent wrapped foil strips were taken into account. After providing a basic understanding of how the foil is consumed in the course of wrapping process, the mathematical model for determining the number of entire foil wrappings is determined. Next the results of mathematical analysis are used for optimization purposes. The foil consumption per unit of the bale volume index is used as a measure of foil expenditure. Two problems of foil consumption optimization are stated and solved. The formulas for computing the optimal foil width and optimal bale size dimensions are derived and estimations of the solution errors are given. Computational results are presented and analyzed for exemplary bale silage.

The aim of the study was to identify the factors that influence situating the students in the Comfort–Stretch-Panic (CSP) zones in the perspective of transition from remote to direct education. The study uses an original tool adapted upon the CSP concept. The presented data was obtained in 2021, from a representative sample of 1125 students. Thus, obtained data allowed to determine the factors of willingness of the primary school students to return to direct education. The research hypotheses were verified using a multinomial logit model. The study shows that the students' readiness depends on factors such as: gender and age, active participation in the online educational process, difficulties related to the process and relationships at school, as well as the family and school support potential. The significant influence caused by the students' personal problems and psychophysical condition on their potential return to direct education was not observed.

Purpose: One inconvenience in finding experimental evidence for the relationship between potential elastic energy and vertical jump height is the difficulty of estimating the value of the stored potential elastic energy. Therefore, the aim of this study is to present a simple method of estimating the potential elastic energy stored by lowering the center of mass during the countermovement phase of a vertical jump. Methods: The research was conducted on 30 able-bodied male university students (age: 20 years, body height: 183.1 ± 7.9 cm, body mass: 80.3 ± 10.4 kg). Each participant performed 10 single countermovement jumps with arms akimbo to maximal height. Measurements employed a Kistler force plate. The value of potential elastic energy was estimated based on the curve of dependence of the ground reaction force on the vertical displacement of the jumper’s center of mass. Results: The mean value (±SD) of potential elastic energy collected due to lowering of the center of mass during the countermovement phase of a vertical jump was 183 ± 69 J. 24.3% of this value can be considered the part of the potential elastic energy (44 ± 21 J) that comes from the transformation of kinetic energy. The total change in gravitational potential energy due to lowering the center of mass was 240 ± 58 J. Conclusions: This estimation of potential elastic energy is only general and rough. However, certain estimations of potential elastic energy may offer some insight into the phenomenon relating vertical quasi-stiffness and the ability to store potential elastic energy with vertical jump height.

Opis:
This study aimed to explore the effect of fatigue on the biomechanical contribution of the lower extremity joints during a typical stretch-shortening cycle (SSC) task. Methods: 15 male athletes completed drop jump (DJ) under pre- and post-fatigue. Vicon motion capture system and 3D Kistler force plates were used to collect kinematics and ground reaction force data simultaneously. Results: Under fatigue condition, 1) the DJ height decreased; the touchdown angle of knee and ankle reduced and the range of motion increased; 2) the maximum push-off moment and power of knee was reduced; 3) the stiffness of knee, ankle, and legs was reduced; 4) the energy generation and the net energy of the ankle decreased; 5) the energy contribution of knee decreased during the eccentric phase. Conclusions: Fatigue altered biomechanical contribution of the lower extremity joints by changing the movement pattern during DJ. The control ability of the knee and ankle were decreased. Eventually, the jump performance was reduced. In addition, the decrease of stiffness as well as the energy contribution of these joints can be used as sensitive indices to evaluate the performance of DJ after fatigue.
