Opis:
The paper discusses the results of wind tunnel tests of airfoils with additional active airflow applied to their upper surfaces. These studies were carried out for a range of velocities up to 28 m/s in an open wind tunnel. Several types of airfoils selected for the examination feature different geometries and are widely applied in today’s avia¬tion industry. The changes in the lift and drag force generated by these airfoils were recorded during the study. The test bench for the tests was equipped with a compressor and a vacuum pump to enable airflow through some holes on the airfoil upper surface. A rapid prototyping method and a 3D printer based on a powder printing technique were applied to print the airfoils. All of their surfaces were subject to surface grind¬ing to smooth their external surfaces. The wind tunnel tests with and without active airflow applied to airfoils are summarised in the paper.

Helix 3D printer
Opis:
Additive manufacturing is an essential solution in the production of parts. Model slicing is an important step of the 3D printing process. The slicing of the layers is the core part of the additive manufacturing because it transforms the 3D model to a 2D profile layer for the printer to manufacture. A novel machine architecture deposits with a helical path. The helical architecture provides a continuous rotation that allows printing continuously without any interruption. Therefore there are no more starting and ending point at each layer. This paper proposes a slicing method compatible with this type of machine. Continuous printing is made as a function of z-level, so at each angle of rotation, the level of z will be incremented. Finally, these disks can be combined as one image to be sent to the ink-jet as a continuous printing. To illustrate this novel slicing methodology a model is sliced.

Opis:
This article deals with the adjustment of a 3D printer for laser engraving and material cutting. The print head can be fitted with a solid laser diode module, which achieves a compact size while retaining its useful power. Two paths lead to the use of such a concept. It is possible to equip the existing print head with a module, which also brings a number of disadvantages such as, for example, the reduction of the printing space or the need for a suitable mounting design. A more elegant solution is to consider this in the design of a 3D printer and design a system to exchange the print heads for 3D printing and laser engraving. Such a solution allows full utilization of the workspace and simple installation of the effector for the required type of work. According to the installed power of the laser diode, it is possible not only to engrave but also cut material such as thin wood, veneer or acrylic glass. The use of such a machine is not only for graphic elements but for the creation of various stencils, boxes or simple models, which can be made up of plastic-burning pieces. The laser module is controlled by a driver, which is designed for the device. This is connected to a 3D printer control board. It is, therefore, necessary for the control board to have at least two pins, which can be controlled after adjusting the control firmware. Most laser modules are normally equipped with an adjustable lens, which is used to concentrate the focus of a laser for the given distance against the worktop. Thus, the modified 3D printer can perform its function as a multi-purpose CNC machine, while a basic platform similar for both devices is used.

Opis:
The spatial FDM Technology printing enables illustrating a great number of technical issues by creating a model of the analyzed object e.g. directly, during didactic classes. A three-dimensional printer may be used in any field of knowledge, from biology, where the printer can be employed for printing the models of organs (printing of the organs themselves is also possible following the modification of the printer - when printing with TAULMAN Nylon filament, we can print e.g. the elements of bones or cartilages which may be implanted into a living organism) to printing spare parts and prototype elements for equipment, in architecture for printing complex scale models etc. The printer itself is a fantastic device, interesting for many fields of study. The 3D printer will enable students to learn how to program the processors based on ATMega, may prepare new software controlling the printer, design 3D graphics on computers, edit “scans” and files downloaded from the Internet, use the CAD software in practice and print the results acquired on the sets of printers. Moreover, each printer may be freely modified according to our own needs - from the change or transfer of the drive to replaceable extruders - the mechanisms forcing materials. The printer may also be changed into a laser plotter or even a milling machine following a slight modification of the extruder’s carriage or changing force belts into ball screws [1-4].

Opis:
Additive manufacturing has been relying on conventional machinery architecture. Conventionally, the architecture used is a Cartesian set-up. The X-Y-Z axis move independently to move the tool on the X-Y plan and increment the Z-axis when the layer is finished. The machine architecture in this paper simplifies the design by constraining the machine to have solely one-degree of freedom. One degree of freedom is also known as a helix linkage. If individually controlled tools are placed all along the rotating arm, then this movement allows an opportunity to deposit material in a single sweeping motion. To increase furthermore the output, multiple arms can be added at a fixed angle. Finally, because of the predictive motion, multiple helix machines can be synchronized to create collaboratively a bigger part. This type of manufacturing process has potential applications in binder jetting, material jetting, and selective laser sintering.

In the last few years a significant growth of three-dimensional printing has been no-ticed. Although 3D printers have been around for about 30 years, they were very ex-pensive, that is why they were available in the industry only in the majority . In recent years, prices of 3D printers have fallen more than tenfold, owing to the fact they are used not only in large enterprises but also in all kinds of educational institutions, small businesses or in do-it-yourself men’s houses. They are, inter alia, used to construct physical models, so much needed in education. Nowadays, one of the most popular 3D printing technologies is FDM (Fused Deposition Modeling). Relatively low prices of printers in this technology make them available for almost everyone. The paper discusses the technology of rapid prototyping, with particular emphasis on the use of 3D printing and appropriately matched printer to designed laboratory stand.

Opis:
Tens of millions of printers are sold each year, including copiers and multifunction devices. Each printer needs an ink or toner cartridge, depending on the type of printer. This is where the problems arise that anyone who owns such a device has encountered – the price and availability of cartridges. A set of original cartridges for the printer we bought can sometimes cost more than the printer itself. On the other hand, it is not always possible to buy cheaper replacement consumables. This is often due to the fact that the manufacturer of the printer has implemented a Digital Rights Management (DRM) protection in the chip connected to the cartridge. Bypassing such protection is not trivial, and when a way to do so is learned, it is not disclosed because of the commercial value of such knowledge. The goal of this paper is to determine if it is possible to find out for ourselves how selected DRM protections work by using reverse engineering, and to develop a way to reset these protections so that we are not tied to the price and availability of consumables on the market, as we can remanufacture our cartridges ourselves, which is especially important in the context of the Right to Repair.

While a powder bed 3D printer device is easy to use, the cleaning task after each print is a tedious job. Consequently, a proper approach is to employ an industrial robot for this task. The robot should be programmed quickly and efficiently with the off-line robot programming (OLP) method. In this paper, an OLP system based on Python and OpenCasCade libraries is introduced to generate robot trajectories for cleaning the printer powder bed immediately and autonomously. The cleaning operation is divided into three sub-operations: top layer raster, raster from the offset, and offset oriented. Several algorithms are employed to satisfy sub-operations autonomously from a CAD model. Raster path, wire, and yaw angle calculators are essential algorithms. Finally, a graphical simulation illustrates the operation efficiency. The proposed system can generate a cleaning path immediately and due to utilizing open resource libraries, there is a wide range of applicable personalization.

Objectives This report shows the relationship between toner exposure and respiratory effects for individuals with a longterm occupational toner-handling history, from 2004 to 2013. Material and Methods Authors studied 752 Japanese male workers in toner handling workshops. A total of 673 men who participated in an annual monitoring survey were analyzed in this study. The following monitoring was performed in the same season each year: personal exposure measurements, biological markers, respiratory function tests, a chest X-ray, chronic respiratory symptoms and incidences of respiratory diseases. To evaluate the toner exposure effect, the exposure categories suitable for each evaluation index were established. Results For those with an occupational toner-handling history, the mean occupational toner-handling period was 14.36 years (standard deviation = 6.62); one participant had 35 years of exposure, which was the longest and one participant had 1 year of exposure which was the shortest. There were no statistically significant differences in the rate of change of respiratory function tests. An ANOVA conducted on blood and urine test results showed that statistically significantly differences were observed for a few items but all the values were very low and within the standard range. Conclusions Authors conducted a 10-year ongoing study, but no obvious negative influences on health were attributed to toner exposure. In a work environment where adequate administrative controls are in place, personal toner exposure levels may be expected to be low, with no adverse effects on human health. The article presents the design of a new three-dimensional desktop printer control system developed with use of experience in the operation of equipment for the mass market. Paper introduces in printing technology basis and outlines its historical context. Solutions to improve operational stability and functionality compared to the original design are proposed. New design bases on the achievements in the domain of open source software. Control over the printing process through the use of feedback signals to enable detection of movement errors is increased. With support for up to seven parallel stepper motor drives, it became possible to use multi-colored head with up to four colors. The new design and dedicated embedded program for control system based on a modern and efficient STM32F4 microprocessor family gives a substantial contribution to the development of a new branch of the three-dimensional printing. The article describes a first known attempt to use 32-bit STM32F4 unit with popular open-source project called Marlin and Teacup for 3D printer. Multiple communication interfaces support integration with industrial automation at IT and process-automation level. Descriptions of the functional implementation are verified by laboratory tests.
