The article presents results of efficiency calculations for two 560 MW nuclear cycles with high-temperature gas-cooled reactor (HTGR). An assumption was made that systems of this type can be used in so-called marine nuclear power plants. The first analysed system is the nuclear steam power plant. For the steam cycle, the efficiency calculations were performed with the code DIAGAR, which is dedicated for analysing this type of systems. The other system is the power plant with gas turbine, in which the combustion chamber has been replaced with the HTGR. For this system, a number of calculations were also performed to assess its efficiency. Moreover, the article names factors in favour of floating nuclear power plants with HTGRs, which, due to passive safety systems, are exposed to much smaller risk of breakdown than other types of reactors which were in common use in the past. Along with safety aspects, it is also economic and social aspect which make the use of this type of systems advisable.

Opis:
Pulverizing system is an important part in the clean and efficient utilization of coal in thermal power plant, and the optimal control of the system is an important way to achieve this goal. This paper presents a stair-like multivariable generalized predictive control scheme for a pulverizing system. This control scheme focuses on the problem of predictive control algorithm in practical application, and integrates the feedforward experience in traditional control schemes of pulverizing system. Simulation results showed that the scheme are able to realize the decoupling control of the pulverizing system, avoid the problem of matrix inversion, reduce the amount of calculation, and has certain engineering application value.

This paper presents a development of the known qualitative method for assessment of engine operation, applied to ship main diesel engine as an example. According to this interpretation engine operation can be presented as a physical quantity. In this aspect, based on the selected functional system of the engine, was assessed usefulness of the quantity for description reliability features of the system. To the analysis was applied Poisson's uniform process which made it possible to elaborate a model of run of worsening the considered system's operation taken as a random process of identical independent decreases of energy efficiency within a given time interval. The presented method is a valuable supplement for description reliability features of ship main engine what is important for realization of shipping tasks by sea. Additional advantage is versatility which makes that it can be applied to reliability analysis of any ship device or ship energy subsystem. Classification of the engine serviceability states with taking into account the assessment of its operation in energy-time aspect, schematic diagram of lubricating system of RTA48-TB engine and values of lubricating oil parameters in steady conditions for the engine load, graphical presentation of lubricating oil cooler operation graphical interpretation of the decreasing of oil cooler efficiency are presented in the paper

It is well known that operational conditions in light water reactors strongly influence the corrosion processes. This paper gives an overview which types of corrosion are identified in operating practice based on the evaluation of events which are reported to the authorities in line with the German reporting criteria. It has been found that the main contributor is the stress corrosion cracking. Several examples of different corrosion mechanisms and their consequences are provided for PWR although a high standard of quality of structures, systems and components has been achieved. Recommendations have been given to check the plant specifications concerning the use of auxiliary materials or fluids during maintenance as well as to examine visually the outer surfaces of austenitic piping with regard to residua of adhesive or adhesive tapes within the framework of in-service inspections. However, events in the last two years shows that such problems cannot be totally avoided.

W artykule omówiono celowość stosowania izolacji termicznej w zespołach napędowych rakiet na paliwo stałe. Na podstawie własnych badań, przedstawiono budowę i technologię wykonania warstwy termoizolacyjnej w zespołach napędowych rakiet przeciwlotniczych „OSA”. W formie dokumentacji fotograficznej, zaprezentowano jedną z metod oceny stanu technicznego tej warstwy z wykorzystaniem aparatury endoskopowej. Przedstawiono wyniki badań własnych mających na celu ustalenie przyczyn spalenia powłoki lakierniczej na zewnętrznej powierzchni zespołu napędowego rakiety „OSA”. Wskazano na konieczność chronienia powierzchni komory spalania przed mechanicznymi uderzeniami i większymi statycznymi naciskami z zewnątrz.
The expediency of using thermal isolation in rocket solid propellant motor units is presented in the paper. The design and technology for getting a thermo-isolating layer in motor units of antiaircraft missiles OSA is provided on the base of own research work. Technical evaluation of this layer was carried out by the endoscopic instrument and some results presented in the pictures included. Some results of own research work are presented to show the reasons for burning the paint coating on the external surface of OSA motor. It was pointed that there is an expediency to protect the surface of the burning chamber against mechanical hits and greater static stresses from outside.

Growing environmental protection requirements also include problems of ozone depletion by coolants. This article presents a possibility of using a cause-and-effect diagram, known as Ishikawa diagram, for an analysis of faults occurring in marine refrigeration systems. The analysis, focused on refrigeration systems installed in Polish fishing vessels, makes use of extensive faults data collected during research.

There has been presented a new procedure of the seating of a combustion engines at the marine power plant with steel chocks cemented by a thixotropic polymer composition between the engine's spot footing and the foundation ledge. A combustion engine is seated on foundation at the marine power plant by steel chocks or the chocks that are cast from polymer composition at the marine power plant. The arrangement, number and dimensions of foundation chocks, as well as arrangement, number and dimensions of the lateral and frontal stoppers that secure chocks work, are established by an engine manufacturer and are approved by Classification Society that supervises the vessel's construction and operation. The author's intention was to develop such chocks that combine the good resistance of steel chocks with the easiness of adjustment the bearing surfaces of polymer compositions chocks. Combination of these features was obtained for steel chocks which are glued by the relatively thin layers of polymer compositions between the engine spot footing and the foundation ledges. Such a method of making the chocks and seating with them the engines on foundation was claimed with the Patent RP No. 192120 on 24th July 2000 for the Polish Naval Academy. In order to receive the approval of the Polish Register of Shipping to use new chocks at the marine power plants, the author carried out appropriate research, results of which are presented below. The results obtained in the research show that by seating of a combustion engine with these steel-thixotropic polymer chocks at the marine power plant, the foundation bolts tension can be diminished to the value equal to five times of the engine weight.

Praca zawiera wyniki badań zdarzeń niepożądanych operatorów siłowni okrętowych podczas pracy na statkach morskich. Zdarzeniami tymi były wypadki przy pracy załóg maszynowych. W pracy również zamieszczono wyniki diagnozowania kandydatów na operatorów siłowni okrętowych, tuż przed ich półroczną praktyką pływającą. Wyniki diagnozowania operatorów świadczą o nienajlepszych ich predyspozycjach.
The work is contained results of investigations of undesirable events of operators of the during work on the seagoing vessels. These events were injuries at work of engine crew. I work have been placed results of diagnosis of candidate on operators of marine power plants also, before their half-year practices just floating. Results of diagnosing of operators show them unfairness predispositions.

Performance management is one of the most significant strategies in promoting the efficiency of organizations and is highly sensitive. It is important to check the efficiency of combined cycle power plants because of their major contribution to power generation and air pollution. This study was conducted to evaluate the economic and environmental efficiency of Combined Cycle Power Plants (CCPPs). The inputs and outputs required to evaluate the performance of the power plants were determined according to expert opinions. Then, the 7-year statistics and information of the Qom, Neishabour, Shahid Rajaee, Yazd and Kerman power plants were collected as the desired CCPPs in Iran. The Window Data Envelopment Analysis (WDEA) method was used for evaluating the efficiency of the power plants. The 3-year window length showed that most of the power plants were efficient. Only the Rajaee, Neishabour and Yazd power plants were ineffective in some years. The mean efficiency of the power plants in the 4-year window length showed that the plants were efficient from 2008 to 2010.

The article discusses the physicochemical mechanisms of the effect of chemical reagents on the processes of swelling of the raw mixture based on the ash of thermal power plants. The process of structure formation in such mixtures occurs as a result of physicochemical transformations of its constituent components. To intensify gas evolution and obtain materials of a porous structure, the presence of a gas former is necessary. The author has analysed the possibility of creating a porous structure in a raw mixture based on ash with the introduction of various gas formers or their formation as a result of exchange reactions. The main chemical compounds contributing to pore formation have been determined. To form a given structure, it is proposed to control chemical transformations at the stage of swelling. To study the processes of intensification of gas evolution, the author proposes to investigate the mechanisms of the influence of mineral fillers and chemical reagents on swelling processes based on the analysis of the Gibbs equation. The parameters of the Gibbs equation are obtained, by which it is possible to determine the probability of the occurrence of chemical reactions with the proposed chemical agents for the formation of gas bubbles with (pores) in the raw material.

In the article has been described some problems associated with the production of biogas and using it as a fuel in internal combustion engines. In Poland biogas is mostly generated from deposits from sewage treatment plants, agricultural waste and from landfills. The biogas chemical composition depends on the organie matter as a source of biogas on used fermentation technology. One of the forms of biogas utilization is burning it in internal combustion engines. Engines producers offer a range of models designed to be fuelled with biogas. However there are some signiflcant problems with operation of such engines that appear in the case of using landfill biogas as a fuel. This kind of biogas is characterized by considerable variability in methane content, which dynamically changes throughout the period of landfill usage. In the article there is some information about the impact of changes in the methane content on operation of internal combustion engines fuelled with landfill biogas. Rapid increase in the methane content may be the purpose of knocking and engine damage. There also presented the analysis of control systems applied in gas engines. The analysis is made for purpose of determining the ability of described control systems to maintain with rapid changes in methane content in fuel gas. On the basis of this there are described some requests for features that should be characterized by the gas engine control system adapted to the combustion of landfill biogas. In summary are presented some guidance to facilitate the correct selection of engine fuelled with landfill biogas.

W artykule podjęto próbę wstępnej oceny pracy elektrowni jądrowych w warunkach awarii katastrofalnej. Analizę tę przeprowadzono, wykorzystując doświadczenia z przebytych awarii katastrofalnych w krajach ze znaczącą generacją z elektrowni jądrowych. Na bazie tych doświadczeń podjęto próbę zdefiniowania charakterystycznych cech elektrowni jądrowych i sformułowania wymagań, jakie muszą spełniać te elektrownie w systemie elektroenergetycznym w kontekście możliwości wystąpienia blackoutu.

Renewable energy from solar power plants is becoming more and more popular due to the depletion of raw materials and reduction of dependence on oil and gas and is also harmless to the natural environment. The management and rational use of land resources is currently a pressing problem in the world, including in Ukraine. One of the solutions is the development of technologies for the use of these areas and the establishment of environmentally friendly technologies for reducing air pollution, namely electricity facilities – solar power plants based on the use of photovoltaic panels. Choosing the right location for obtaining solar energy depends on many factors and constraints. Optimal location of solar farms is important to maximize the beneficial features of projects while minimizing the negative. A method of finding places in the vicinity of large cities that could be suitable for installing power plants was developed. The proposed method uses an analytical hierarchical process, analytical network process, Boolean logic and weighted linear combination. It has been implemented in the QGIS program. The method was successfully used for the city of Zaporizhia, but it can be directly implemented in any other region. That is why the presented works constitute a scheme that can be easily used to estimate large areas in order to optimally choose a place for a solar park in the vicinity of large cities. Such a model can be very useful for investors to find potential locations for solar energy before conducting detailed field research.
