The work presents results of laboratory experimental research of a truck tire in dynamic motion conditions. Researches were performed using dynamometric trailer and dual drum facility for tire dynamics testing. The research object was a new structure truck, tubeless tire (275/70R22.5) with steel cord included also in carcass and bell. Tested tired wheel was rolling over steel drum surface with different speed. A wheel cornering angle was forces with different increase and similar decrease rate. The control system of hydraulic wheel turning mechanism was controlled by the voltage signals generated by software, through the D/A converter card. Values of cornering angle and also lateral reaction force transmitted by tested wheel were measured during tests performing. Changes of lateral reaction force values, transmitted by a tired wheel depending on forced wheel cornering angle were observed. Tire behaviour in the conditions of wheel cornering angle variations at different wheel rolling speed is presented. An influence of tire relaxation on values of transmitted lateral reaction force, during forcing of wheel cornering angle, is presented. As a result, there are presented differences in transient tire behaviour during forcing of wheel cornering angle with different increase rate and at different wheel rolling speed. A scope of wheel motion conditions are indicated, where tire relaxation can be important in case of modelling its interaction with the ground in the aspect of vehicle driving safety and comfort. Lateral reaction force value, transmitted by a wheel, the tire relaxation phenomenon becomes less significant when the rolling speed increases, the cornering angle value increases and when the rate of the wheel cornering angle variation rate decreases. It has been also shown that the relaxation phenomenon occurs both when cornering angle increases or decreases.

Results of laboratory experimental research of a truck tire, in conditions of side cornering angle dynamic changes are presented in this work. As research objects, there were 2 truck tires. These tires had different construction and as an effect they had different properties, including cornering resistance and relaxation length. Tires tests have been performed using the dynamometric trailer, fixed on the drum facility. During testing, the wheel side cornering angle oscillatory changes have been forcing, with frequency of 2 and 4Hz, in wide scope of the wheel rolling velocity. Chosen measurement results of lateral reaction force have been presented in time domain. Values of the lateral force oscillations amplitude and lateral force time lag have been observed. Amplitude and phase dynamic characteristics of tires, using FFT transformation, have been determined. A decrease of the lateral force oscillations amplitude and an increase of the lateral force phase shift with increasing input signal frequency, as the wheel cornering angle oscillations, have been shown. Conclusions about influence of the wheel rolling speed on tire relaxation effects in dynamic conditions have been formulated. There have been revealed that different properties of different tires types, described in quasistatic conditions have an influence on their behaviour also in dynamic conditions. Lower tire cornering resistance can decrease an amplitude of lateral force oscillations whilst greater tire relaxation length can decrease an amplitude and also can increase phase shift of lateral force oscillations.

W artykule opisano cykl życia odpadów gumowych na przykładzie zużytych opon. Przedstawiono najpopularniejsze sposoby ich wykorzystania i zagospodarowania. Artykuł opisuje stan gospodarki odpadami oraz stosowane metody zagospodarowania zużytych opon w Polsce w latach 2015- 2017. Celem artykułu jest zaproponowanie nowych rozwiązań, które pozwolą zapanować nad ilością opon wprowadzonych na rynek przez rozwiązania legislacyjne. Analiza aktualnego sposobu zagospodarowania zużytych opon może pozwolić na ich jeszcze lepsze wykorzystanie oraz utylizację. Przedstawiono również uwarunkowania legislacyjne dotyczące utylizacji odpadów gumowych (stan aktualny na 1 marca 2020 r.).
The lifecycle of rubber waste, based on the example of used tires is presented in this paper. The main focus is put on the methods of the waste management and further utilization. This is considered and described in details in relation to the situation in Poland over the period of 2015- 2017. The aim of the article is to propose new solutions that will allow to "control" the number of tires introduced to the market through legislative solutions. An analysis of the current way of managing used tires may allow for their better use and disposal. Complementary to the major considerations, the legislative conditions regarding the utilization of rubber waste are introduced (the status obligatory to 01.03.2020).

The article presents the results of research on the influence of the pressure in car tires on the braking distance. Tires with lower than nominal pressure, higher than nominal pressure and for comparison with nominal pressure were analyzed. The tests were carried out on a bituminous surface typical for most road surfaces in Poland. Six tests were carried out on a dry surface, a wet surface, and a surface covered with snow. The cars were equipped with sets of summer and winter tires. Both vehicles were equipped with an efficient ABS system. All measurement tests were performed at a speed of 50 km / h.

W pracy przedstawiono wyniki badań eksperymentalnych ogumienia samochodu ciężarowego w nieustalonych warunkach znoszenia bocznego koła. Pokazano sposób aproksymacji wyników badań poprzez dopasowanie modelu nabiegania do charakterystyki nabiegania koła ogumionego. Przedstawiono sposób ręcznego oraz zautomatyzowanego doboru długości drogi nabiegania, z uwzględnieniem zmiany wartości obciążenia normalnego koła oraz zadawanego kąta znoszenia. Przedstawiono uproszczoną metodę określenia parametrów nabiegania na podstawie znanej wartości sztywności bocznej opony. Metoda umożliwia wyznaczenie wartości długości drogi nabiegania i jej zastosowanie bezpośrednio w modelu współpracy koła ogumionego z podłożem, z uwzględnieniem nieustalonych stanów znoszenia bocznego.
Experimental research results of truck tire in conditions of not steady-state side cornering are presented in this paper. A way of tire relaxation model approximation to the tire relaxation characteristics, obtained from experimental research have are presented. A way of manual and automated selection of relaxation length value, taking into account changes in the normal load and the wheel cornering angle are presented. A simplified method to determine relaxation parameters basing on the known value of tire lateral stiffness is described. Presented method allows to determine the relaxation length and its direct application in the model of tire-road interaction, including the tire relaxation.

An experimental device and methodology for tire wear investigation are presented. An indirect method for wear evaluating is used. The experimental results in cases of straight motion with and without side slip are obtained. The distribution of wearing on tread pattern wide is evaluated in different running conditions.
Передставлены экспериментальная установка и методика оценки износа шин. Использован косвенный метод оценки износа. Получены экспериментальные результаты при движении при наличии и отсутствии бокового увода. Сделана оценка неравномерности износа по ширине шины при разных условиях движения.

The article presents contemporary challenges faced by tire manufacturers. General trends in the development of the tire industry are outlined. The negative impact of rubber waste on the environment was emphasized. The production process of radial tires used in passenger cars is presented. The basic constructions of tires and the components used for their production are discussed. The meaning and functions of the tire components are presented. The flow of the production process has been described, including all its stages. The possibilities of modern VMI MAXX tire assembling machines were commented, and the tire assembling process was characterized in detail. Methods of routine tire quality control used in mass production are discussed. The values describing the uniformity of tires were characterized. The division of tire defects used in the tire industry is presented. The tools and methods for detecting tire defects were characterized. Contemporary trends in the elimination of tire defects have been identified, especially emphasizing the potential of methods based on the use of artificial intelligence. It was noted that a solution to reduce the amount of tire waste due to exceeding the uniformity limits is needed. Authors noticed new opportunities thanks to the modern technologies used to register the tire assembling process.

W pracy przeprowadzono analizę literaturową pod kątem identyfikacji czynników mających wpływ na opory toczenia kół pojazdów samochodowych. Przeanalizowano także zjawiska występujące w czasie użytkowania opon przy nieprawidłowym ciśnieniu ich pompowania. Przygotowano metodykę badań eksperymentalnych, których celem było wyznaczenie zależności między ciśnieniem w oponach pneumatycznych i wartością oporów toczenia kół pojazdów. Testom poddano 10 losowo wybranych pojazdów o różnych rodzajach kół pneumatycznych. Pomiary realizowano dla ciśnienia nominalnego i obniżonego o 10%, 20%, 30% i 40%, a także przy ciśnieniu podwyższonym o 10%. Wykonano wizualizację wyników zarejestrowanych w czasie badań i na ich podstawie wygenerowano równania opisujące zależność między ciśnieniem w oponach pneumatycznych i wartością oporów toczenia kół. Przeprowadzone analizy wykazały, że zmiany ciśnienia w oponach w przyjętym zakresie mogą wywołać zmianę oporów toczenia nawet o 25%. Opracowana w ten sposób baza wiedzy wykorzystana zostanie do budowy cyfrowych modeli pojazdów samochodowych.
A literature analysis to identify the variables affecting the rolling resistance of the car's tires has been carried out during works, also, phenomena occurring at the time of the tire usage with an incorrect pressure of the pumping. The experimental research methodology has been prepared. The aim of the research was to identify influence of the pressure in pneumatic wheels on the value of the rolling resistance of vehicle's tires. There was 10 randomly selected vehicles with different kinds of pneumatic wheels tested. The measurements were taken for the nominal pressure and pressure decreased by 10%, 20%, 30% and 40% and also for a pressure increased by 10%. The visualization of the results registered at the time of research has been created, and on those results' basis the equations have been generated describing the influences of pressure in pneumatic wheel on the rolling tire resistance. The analysis has shown that the changes in pressure of tires within the range in the research may cause changes in rolling tire resistance by up to 25%. The knowledge basis worked out in this way will be used to build digital car models.

The work is focused on the possibility to use spectroscopic ellipsometer in biosensor application. Operation of the ellipsometer is enhanced by the feature of TIRE (Total Internal Reflection Ellipsometry). The principal goal is to detect analytes in aqueous solutions at low concentrations below 0.1 nmol/l.
Praca koncentruje się na możliwości wykorzystania elipsometrii spektroskopowej w aplikacjach czujnika biologicznego. Działanie elipsometru potęguje cechy TIRE (ang. Tire, an element of wheel, is made in a sophisticated vulcanization process of many components and some of which such as: bead wire, belt and carcass exhibit ferromagnetic properties. Such components create variable in direction and intensity magnetic field, which expands around tire and the complete wheel. Since the layout of magnetic field is exceptional for every single wheel many of information might be obtained on the basis of it alteration. The reported since now application concentrates on rotational speed measurement, wheel rotations counting and therefore also vehicle linear speed and distance estimation. However up to the present the known solutions did not describe changes in magnetic field in case of damage induced by e.g. puncture caused by ferromagnetic elements. This paper’s aim is to test the thesis that it is possible to detect puncture in tire made by ferromagnetic element by using measurement and analysis of changes of magnetic flux density around tire. The tests were executed using original measuring device, designed especially for such experiments. It registers a magnetic profile, which consists of data series of magnetic flux density measured in this investigations 55 mm above tire’s tread and arranged along with rotation angle. Tire magnetic properties were assessed by using of circumferential magnetic profiles and parameters such as: minimum value (Mmin), maximum value (Mmax), peak to peak value (Mm), average value of ordinates of profile (Mb), skewness of ordinate distribution (Ms) and kurtosis of ordinate distribution (Mk). Magnetic profiles before after puncture were analysed as well as the parameters. Moreover differential signal caused by puncture were determined. It turned out that detected changes are directly related to tire damage and showing in rotation angle where puncture occurs.

The aspects related to the dynamic modeling of the mechanical properties of motorcycle tires following the practical application of research methods have been analyzed for many years. A test stand was constructed for the examination, and a mathematical model was proposed to calculate tire parameters. This study aims to develop the characteristics of the radial dynamic stiffness of a pneumatic tire depending on the pressure in the tire, speed of the beater simulating tire slipping onto a small obstacle lying on the road, and impact damping. The testing device was designed to simulate a sudden strike of a tire on a stiff foreign body lying on a road plane. The experiment was performed for three different values of air pressure in the tire, beater rate, and impact energy of the tested wheel. The dynamic radial stiffness of pneumatic tires decreased with increasing deformation speed and pressure. Presented in the paper research methodology can be an introduction to further, more complicated research, where will be taken into consideration factors such as wheel rotation, driving or breaking the wheel, friction, etc. The proposed methodology can be extended to assess the dynamic adhesion coefficient during tire impact loading.

The characteristics of the car tire, and especially its deformation and interaction road, are mainly factors affected the energy consumption of the vehicle and consequently the amount of fuel consumption and emissions to the environment the harmful exhaust gas components. It is estimated that approximately 80-90% of the total energy losses (rolling resistance) are due to internal tire friction, which occurs during its deformation, the remaining 10-20% are ventilation losses, tread face interaction with the road surface and cyclical compression and expansion of air enclosed in the tire. Non-pneumatic tires (NPT) (as a direction of development) are the alternative solutions for conventional tires. Their advantages are as follows maintenance-free and the resistance to typical for pneumatic tires mechanical damages can be a major cause of their widespread use in future (and thus electric) cars. In the available publications, the results of the estimation of the features NPT based on numerical simulations are only presented. There is lack of experimental research results concerning real objects, which determine their driving properties. Presented work is an attempt to check how the change in wheel structure affects the energy consumption of rolling wheels. Research objects (non-pneumatic tire and pneumatic tire) were selected for the size and destination compatibility. Experimental research were carried out at a universal quasi-static tire testing station, which is located at the Institute of Mechanical Vehicles and Transport at the Department of Mechanical at the Military University of Technology. According to the authors, the obtained results can be an interesting and unique supplement to the problem of assessing the properties of new and future (non-pneumatic tire) construction of vehicle wheels.

The article presents the research on the impact of specific factors on the state of the pressure value in passenger car wheels in service. Data on how the vehicle was used was obtained based on a survey. The survey contained data on checking the condition of the vehicle tires and also measured the tire pressure. The aim of the study was to investigate the relationship between the impact of specific factors on the state of the pressure value in passenger car wheels. The correlation analysis of the correctness of pressure in car tires and selected factors was carried out using the Kendall tau test. In addition, odds ratio (OR) analysis and the Hosmer and Lemeshow test were used to analyze the results. The work draws attention to the impact of improper tire pressure on tire durability and road safety as well as the functioning of other active safety systems. In addition, attention was drawn to drivers' awareness of the need to control the pressure in the wheels of the vehicle. Based on the analysis it was found that the age of the vehicle used and the driver's knowledge have the greatest impact on the correct tire pressure. Studies have shown that in over 60% of the vehicles analyzed, the tire pressure was normal.

Nowadays, non-pneumatic tires are becoming an increasingly likely alternative to pneumatic tires. The function of compressed air has been taken over by the belt and the elastic structure (materials used and shape of the components). The research presented in the paper was carried out in quasi-static conditions. The research's aim was to compare the radial stiffness, hysteresis and selected parameters of the contact patch of two non-pneumatic tires and four pneumatic tires used interchangeably in ATVs/UTVs. The analyzed non-pneumatic tires are characterized by greater radial stiffness than pneumatic tires of the same size. Moreover the wheel with a cellular structure has the highest hysteresis of the radial characteristics of the tested wheels and the highest values of the unit pressure in the area of contact patch. The paper also verified two methods of calculating the contact patch length of non-pneumatic tires.

Opis:
The influence of some parameters of pneumatic tire on its deformation and stresses under inflation pressure has been analyzed. The 2D axisymmetrical finite element model was applied. Large displacements have been taken into account in the strain-displacement relations. Orthotropy ratio variations appearing in a specific tire cord-rubber composite have been also considered. The following input data have been taken: belt ply width, belt cord angle and longitudinal stiffness of carcass fiber. The tire model was verified using the experimental results. Good correlation was observed between the corresponding displacements.
Przeanalizowano wpływ niektórych parametrów konstrukcyjnych opony pneumatycznej na jej deformację i naprężenia wywołane działaniem ciśnienia wewnętrznego. Zastosowano metodę elementów skończonych. Założono obrotową symetrię zadania. w rozważaniach uwzględniono duże przemieszczenia. Wzięto także pod uwagę zmienność współczynnika ortotropii w specyficznym kompozycie oponowym złożonym z kordu i gumy. Zmienne wejściowe stanowiły: szerokość opasania, kąt nachylenia nitki w warstwie opasania i sztywność nitek osnowy. Na podstawie przeprowadzonej weryfikacji modelu obliczeniowego opony można wnioskować, że w zakresie przemieszczeń zadowalająco dokładnie opisuje on obiek rzeczywisty.
