Od grudnia pandemia COVID-19 dotyka wiele osób. Dzisiaj żyjemy w innej rzeczywistości. Jednak mimo śmiertelnego zagrożenia dalej musimy nieść pomoc pacjentom z rozmaitymi problemami medycznymi. Często do gabinetu okulistycznego trafiają osoby z zespołem suchego oka. Zwykle nie jest to poważna komplikacja, jednak może dotkliwie utrudniać życie pacjentów, a w wyjątkowych sytuacjach zrujnować ich widzenie. W pracy zostaną przedstawione objawy zespołu suchego oka, jego przyczyny, a także skuteczne metody leczenia. Omówiono również problem COVID-19 jako jednostki chorobowej, objawy oczne, które może powodować, oraz częstość występowania objawów okulistycznych u osób z tą chorobą. Ponadto opisany został związek między koronawirusem a zespołem suchego oka.
Since December, the COVID-19 pandemic has been affecting many people. Today we live in a different reality. However, despite the lethal threat, we still need to help patients with various medical problems. Often people with dry eye syndrome visit the ophthalmology’ consulting room. It’s usually not a serious complication, but it can severely hinder patients' lives and, in exceptional cases, ruin their vision. The article will present the symptoms of dry eye syndrome, causes and effective treatments. There are also discussed: the problem of COVID-19 as a disease entity, ocular symptoms whom may cause and the incidence of eye symptoms among people with this disease. In addition it will be described the connection between coronavirus and dry eye syndrome.

Warsaw Science Diplomacy School 2020 was the 1st edition of summer school held together by the European Academy of Diplomacy, based in Poland, and the European Union led programme Inventing a shared Science Diplomacy for Europe (InsSciDE). The week-long venue took place online, due to the coronavirus pandemic, between 22-26 June 2020. Class of 2020 consisted of 28 participants from 6 continents, 10 European Union member states and 27 countries in total, where vast majority possessed different nationality and country of residence. Also, the mentors and instructors of the school came from over 13 institutions gathered in the InsSciDe consortium. Participants were divided into 4 teams where they were discussing study cases of how European science diplomacy applies to global challenges. The chosen challenges were the following: Natural resources as public goods for global health; A Matter of Global Epidemic Diplomacy; Scientists in diplomacy during the Scramble for Africa; and A co-production of science and diplomacy in the Law of the Sea.

Aim. The aim of is article is to discuss how summer schools can be approached as instances of hybrid education and how this can help to address the complex needs of their participants living in a culturally and technologically intertwined world. Methodology. This paper analyses the theoretical framework of hybrid education, its manifestations in summer schools and since it needs contextualisation, how it works in a specific case of Baltic Summer University organised by Vytautas Magnus University (Kaunas, Lithuania). Research and conclusion. To reach their target audience, summer schools combine academic content, and the elements of business and entertainment. This results in a separate mode of education with new possibilities and scope, however poses a paradox: while the adoption of business and entertainment practices puts summer schools somewhat outside the realm of the traditional university practices, it makes higher education more approachable and able to react to the fast-changing reality. Baltic Summer University fits the pattern established and as such, could benefit from a more active engagement of this theoretical approach and the opportunities it offers.   Originality. While summer schools are not a particularly new phenomenon, recently this field has witnessed a great expansion in both the supply of programmes and interest from students. The nature of these programmes and sudden interest in them remains under the radar of more extensive in-depth studies, which would actually help to harness its full potential.

From October 2002 until March 2003 surprisingly warm, oxygenated waters were frequently encountered in the Baltic Sea in the area between the Bornholm and Fårö Deeps from the halocline down to the bottom. Owing to their ventilation effect in the stagnating deep waters, their occasional observations have partly been incorrectly attributed to the inflow events of October 2002 or January 2003. The emergence of some of these waters can be traced back to the exceptional summer weather conditions in August and September 2002 in central Europe. The warm waters played a remarkable renewal pacemaker role for the subsequent important winter inflow of January 2003. The evolution of this summer inflow is described and possible causes are discussed.

Od r. 2010 rząd węgierski ważną rolę przywiązuje do sportu, w tym do piłki nożnej i promocji ruchu olimpijskiego. Mimo braku odpowiedniej infrastruktury w szkołach węgierskich wprowadzono codzienne lekcje wychowania fizycznego. Wszędzie w kraju realizowane są wielkie inwestycje sportowe. Wśród nich priorytetowe miejsce przypada budowie i rekonstrukcji stadionów. Między innymi we wsi rodzinnej premiera wybudowany został stadion, który potrafi zmieścić 3.500 kibiców, podczas gdy liczba mieszkańców Felcsút wynosi mniej niż 2 000 osób. Wyniki sportu wyczynowego wykorzystywane są przez politykę w sposób porównywalny do metod stosowanych w XX-wiecznych systemach totalitarnych. Podczas XXXI Letnich Igrzysk Olimpijskich za ogromne koszty wybudowany został w Rio „Dom Węgierski”, który miał promować Budapeszt przy ubieganiu się o prawo do organizowania Igrzysk w 2024 r. Z powodu inicjatywy pewnej organizacji obywatelskiej ws. rozpisania referendum na początku 2017 r. kandydatura została wycofana. Opór opozycyjnych polityków i pewnej części społeczeństwa do olimpiady wynikał z rosnącej korupcji, która dosięga już najwyższych władz politycznych.
Since 2010 the Hungarian government has played a major political role in the development of sports, including football and the Olympic movement. Despite the lack of proper infrastructure, daily physical education classes were introduced in Hungarian schools. Across the country, significant sports projects are being realised. Among these, the building and reconstruction of stadiums are a priority. In the home village of the Hungarian Prime Minister, a stadium capable of accommodating 3500 spectators was also built, while the number of inhabitants of Felcsút is below 2000.The results of competitive sports are utilised for enhancing national pride and the achievements of the government in a way similar to the methods of the totalitarian political regime of the 20th century. During the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janerio, a Hungarian House was built, which was designed to popularise and support Hungary’s tender for organising the 2024 Olympic Games. Owing to a civil movement’s initiative to hold a referendum on the issue, the government withdrew the application at the beginning of 2017. The resistance to the Olympics on behalf opposition parties and partly of society was primarily caused by the growing corruption reaching the highest levels of political leadership.

W artykule przedstawiono porównanie warunków meteorologicznych w sezonie letnim 2005 r. na podstawie danych zebranych w trakcie trwania polskich wypraw polarnych do Hornsundu, Calypsobyen, doliny Ebby i Kaffiöyry. Dodatkowo, aby szczegółowiej poznać ich zróżnicowanie na zachodnim wybrzeżu Spitsbergenu skorzystano z dostępnych danych dla 2 norweskich stacji: Ny Alesund i Svalbard Lufthavn. Ze względu na różny czas pracy polskich ekspedycji polarnych do porównania warunków meteorologicznych wybrano wspólny okres 21.07-31.08. Stwierdzono, iż zróżnicowanie przestrzenne większości badanych elementów meteorologicznych na zachodnim wybrzeżu Spitsbergenu latem 2005 r. było znaczące. Na kształtowanie warunków meteorologicznych na badanym obszarze, a więc i na ich zróżnicowanie przestrzenne, w pełni sezonu letniego większy wpływ wywiera stopień kontynentalizmu klimatu niż szerokość geograficzna. Jednak wraz ze zbliżaniem się końca lata polarnego rola wspomnianych czynników się odwraca.
The paper presents the data concerning the spatial diversification of meteorological conditions occurring on the western coast of Spitsbergen during the summer season of 2005. For the analysis daily data have been used from four Polish stations (Kaffiöyra - KH, Ebby valley - EBB, Calypsobyen - CAL and Hornsund - HOR) and two Norwegian stations (Ny Ĺlesund - NYA, Svalbard Lufthavn - SVA), mainly for the common period of observation (from 21st July to 31st August) (Fig. 1). The Hornsund station was used as a reference station. Differences have been computer for all the analysed meteo-rological variables between stations for every 24-hour period, ten- / eleven-day period, and for the common period of observations as a whole (the meterological variables analysed include air pressure (AP), wind speed (v), cloudiness (C), sunshine duration (SS), maximum daily temperature (Tmax), mean daily temperature (Ti), minimum daily temperature (Tmin), relative humidity (f), and atmospheric precipitation (P)) (Table 1, Fig. 2, Fig. 5). All results proved that the spatial diversification of almost all analysed variables is significant. It is very evident that in the summer the degree of climate continentality has a greater influence on this diversification than the geographical latitude. Local topography plays also important role in the diversification of meteorological variables on the western coast of Spitsbergen. A good example of this influence is presented in Figure 4, showing different kinds of wind roses. It can be seen that winds from different directions dominate in each station. Mean daily courses of some selected meteorological variables (Fig. 3) also show that spatial diversification is varied throughout the day. For example, greater differences are noted during "night" hours for atmospheric pressure and wind speed, while an opposite relation exists for air temperature and relative humidity. Extreme values of analysed meteorological variables during the common period of observation (from 21st July to 31st August 2005) are shown in Table 2. The highest temperature (13.1°C) occurred in Svalbard Lufthavn located in the most continental part of Spitsbergen, while the lowest (0.5°C) was in the Hornsund region, where cyclones bringing thick clouds are very common. Day-to-day variabilities of the majority of the analysed meteorological variables on the west coast of Spitsbergen are quite large (Table 3).

The beginning dates and the lengths of thermic seasons in Warsaw (1951-2004) were analysed. These characteristics of seasons are very variable, especially in winter. The changes of winter length influence strongly the dates and length of adjacent seasons, that is, of early winter and early spring. The current warming is best visible exactly during these seasons: winter becomes shorter, while early winter and - to an even longer degree -early spring become longer. The period of spring, summer and autumn is characterised by grater stability. These seasons showed a very weak tendency to change on even its lack, both as regards the length and the beginning date.

This paper provides a timeline of the 81-year history of the organization of the summer Polonia Sports Games in Poland in the years 1934–1991 and their continuation under a changed name as the World Polonia Games in the years 1997–2015. The World Polonia Games are closely related to communities of the Polish diaspora, called Polonia, located in several dozen countries around the world. These people, generally maintaining a sense of connection with the Motherland, formed various social, religious, educational, cultural and youth associations. Among the latter, sports organizations played an important part. The objectives of physical culture related Polonia associations usually emphasized the need for and the significance of their cooperation with the sports movement in the home country. It was established through central institutions representing the interests of the Polonia community. This cooperation was aimed at mutual support of both the Polonia sports and competitive sports in Poland. The aim of this work is to present a timeline of events related to the organization and the course of the Summer World Polonia Games (1934–2015). The concept adopted by the authors stems not only from the extensive chronology, but also from the vastness of the source material. Many athletes representing various Polish diaspora communities participated in the Polonia Sports Games, and later in the Summer World Polonia Games. The program of the Games underwent gradual changes. The initially determined sporting performance minimums, which were to determine who should qualify for the Games were lifted. Age categories were extended in order to enable young, middle-aged and older people to take part in the Games. The Polonia Games gave impetus to association of Polish athletes in Polonia sports organizations abroad and contributed largely to the consolidation of Polish national life in exile. Polonia activists together with sports activists in Poland decided to continue the World Polonia Games for the sake of the whole Polish diaspora and Poles living in Poland.
W niniejszym opracowaniu przedstawiono kalendarium wydarzeń 81-letniej organizacji Polonijnych Igrzysk Sportowych w Polsce w latach 1934–1991 i ich kontynuację w zmienionej nazwie – jako Światowe Igrzyska Polonijne w latach 1997–2015. Światowe Igrzyska Polonijne są ściśle związane ze zbiorowościami polskiego wychodźstwa, zwanymi Polonią, które znajdują się w kilkudziesięciu krajach świata. Ludność ta, zachowując na ogół poczucie łączności z Ojczyzną, tworzyła różne stowarzyszenia: społeczne, religijne, oświatowe, kulturalne i młodzieżowe. Wśród tych ostatnich ważne znaczenie odgrywały organizacje sportowe. W założeniach polonijnych stowarzyszeń kultury fizycznej podkreślano z reguły potrzebę i znaczenie ich współpracy z ruchem sportowym w kraju macierzystym. Nawiązywano ją za pośrednictwem centralnych instytucji reprezentujących interesy Polonii. Współpraca ta miała na celu wzajemne wspieranie działań zarówno w zakresie sportu polonijnego, jak i sportu wyczynowego w Polsce. Celem opracowania jest przedstawienie kalendarium wydarzeń związanych z organizacją i przebiegiem Letnich Światowych Igrzysk Polonijnych (1934–2015). Przyjęta przez autorów koncepcja wynika nie tylko z rozpiętości czasowej, ale też ze względu na obszerność materiału źródłowego. W Polonijnych Igrzyskach Sportowych, a następnie Światowych Igrzyskach Polonijnych – letnich uczestniczyło wielu sportowców reprezentujących różne środowiska polonijne. Program Igrzysk ulegał stopniowym przemianom. Początkowe określone minima sportowe pozwalające na zakwalifikowanie do Igrzysk zostały zniesione. Rozszerzono kategorie wiekowe pozwalające na start w Igrzyskach osobom młodym, w średnim i starszym wieku. Igrzyska polonijne dały impuls do zrzeszania się polskich sportowców w polonijnych organizacjach sportowych za granicą i przyczyniły się w dużym stopniu do konsolidacji polskiego życia narodowego na obczyźnie. Działacze polonijni wspólnie z działaczami sportowymi w kraju postanowili kontynuować Światowe Igrzyska Polonijne dla dobra całej polonijnej społeczności i Polaków mieszkających w Polsce.

The article presents the results of research on the influence of the pressure in car tires on the braking distance. Tires with lower than nominal pressure, higher than nominal pressure and for comparison with nominal pressure were analyzed. The tests were carried out on a bituminous surface typical for most road surfaces in Poland. Six tests were carried out on a dry surface, a wet surface, and a surface covered with snow. The cars were equipped with sets of summer and winter tires. Both vehicles were equipped with an efficient ABS system. All measurement tests were performed at a speed of 50 km / h.

Od lat 60. XX wieku w Polsce za przeprowadzanie telewizyjnych transmisji z Igrzysk Olimpijskich odpowiedzialna jest Telewizja Polska. Niemal każdorazowo w projekt zaangażowanych jest kilka stacji z portfolio TVP, które oferują setki godzin transmisji „na żywo”, rozmowy z gośćmi w Studiach Olimpijskich, ekskluzywne wywiady etc. Historycznymi pod względem przekazu były Igrzyska Olimpijskie Rio 2016. TVP zapewniła widzom ponad 800 godzin bezpośrednich transmisji. Dodatkowo za pośrednictwem internetowych stron i aplikacji udostępnione zostały transmisje wielu różnorodnych dyscyplin – odbiorca mógł zdecydować, jakie zmagania w danym momencie chce śledzić. Referat skupia uwagę na zmianach, jakie nastąpiły w „polskich” przekazach Igrzysk Olimpijskich na przestrzeni ostatnich dwudziestu lat. Przy analizowaniu medialnych zmian warto się zastanowić, jakie nowości technologiczne czekają na odbiorców podczas Igrzysk Olimpijskich w Tokio, w 2020 roku.
Ever since the 60’s the Telewizja Polska takes the duty of broadcasting the Olympics in Poland. Almost everytime a few channels from Telewizja Polska take part in it by offering hundreds of hours full of live transmissions from the Olympics, talks with guests in the Studia Olimpijskie, exclusive interviews, etc. Historical part when it comes to broadcasting were the Olympics in Rio in 2016. TVP had given its receivers over 800 hours of direct transmissions. Additionally, thanks to the websites and apps we were given transmissions of many other disciplines - the viewer could decide which discipline he wants to watch thanks to the broad offer from TVP. The paper is going to focus on the changes that took place within the 20 years of Olympics broadcasts in polish television. Since we are on topic, it’s worthwhile to take a second to think what kind of technology will have its debut during the Olympics in Tokio in 2020.

Abstract: In this work, the author reports on the ninth edition of the Summer School of Phenomenology and Philosophy of Mind, which took place in Copenhagen on 13-17 August, 2018. At the beginning of the report, the context, character, goals of the meeting and the number of participants are presented. Next, the order of the day is presented, the detailed structure of the lecture and workshop parts. The author then makes a brief summary of 5 lectures and 10 papers presented each day.  Zusammenfassung:  In diesem Artikel berichtet der Autor über die neunte Auflage der Sommerschule für Phänomenologie und Philosophie des Geistes, die am 13.-17. August 2018 in Kopenhagen stattfand. Zu Beginn des Berichts werden der Kontext, Charakter, Ziele des Treffens und die Anzahl der Teilnehmer vorgestellt. Als nächstes wird die Reihenfolge des Tages als auch die detaillierte Struktur des Vortrags und des Seminarteils präsentiert. Der Autor macht dann eine kurze Zusammenfassung der fünf Vorträge und 10 Präsentationen, die sind in Rahmen der Sommerschule vorgestellt worden.
