In her report Francesca Tripodi analyses the attitudes and behaviour of individuals spread around the United States and who consider themselves as Christians, conservatives and Republicans. The conservatism in the account is characterised by several observed principles: an emphasized connection between faith and patriotism through repeated rituals like Christian prayer, the Pledge of Allegiance, and reciting the Virginia Republican Creed; the problem of separation of church and state and a need to protect racial and religious identity with subsidized defence strategies. In this ethnographic work, the author presents how two Republican groups are searching for the truth in the contemporary media environment. The author conducted several individuals who describe themselves as Christians, conservatives and Republicans and she analysed how they conceptualize truth. The findings of the work provide a new foundation for understanding the relationship between so-called „fake news“ and contemporary conservative political thought.

Opis:
Historical policy is most often an element of the country’s foreign policy. Russia, referring to the heritage and the historical tradition of the Tsar’s Russia and the USSR, for decades has been distorting Polish history. In the recent years it has accused Poland of, among others, co-operation with the Third Reich. The article presents characteristic displays of an anti-Polish historical propaganda in certain Russian media as well as in historical works, which is reflected in the current Kremlin policy.
Polityka historyczna jest na ogół elementem polityki zagranicznej państwa. Rosja odwołując się do dziedzictwa i tradycji historycznej Rosji carskiej i Związku Radzieckiego od kilkudziesięciu lat zakłamuje historię Polski. W ostatnim latach oskarża RP m.in. o współpracę z III Rzeszą. W artykule poddano analizie charakterystyczne przejawy antypolskiej propagandy historycznej w niektórych mediach rosyjskich oraz pracach historycznych, co znajduje odzwierciedlenie w bieżącej polityce Kremla.

Artykuł dotyczy problematyki integracji odnawialnych źródeł energii w dystrybucyjnych systemach zasilania. A construction of prototyped one phase supercapacitor based voltage dip compensator is presented and selected problems of evolution to asymmetric multilevel topology are shortly described. Such complex device was treated as distributed renewable energy source located in future active supply network and a kind of applications and potentially suitable software tool for its supervising are presented.

This paper discusses the distinction between the function of a descriptive artistic model and the explicative schemes of its realization. The descriptive model is considered as a structural-model function responsible for the cognitive representation of reality that is pictured in a text, a series of texts, creative output of an author, or a certain artistic trend. Semantics of a descriptive model is always connected to some cognitive space of the picture of the world. Based on the example of cognitive space “nature”, the author focuses on the descriptive model of the presentation of this cognitive space employed by Boris Grebenshchikov in his poetic texts. Moreover, the author determines the concepts of nature most relevant to the poet’s idiostyle.

The upcoming transformations of today’s societies into sustainable societies pose numerous problems. To avoid the destruction of the foundations of life in the Anthropocene, a profound social and cultural transformation encompassing all areas of life is required. To know how this can be accomplished requires extensive research and knowledge, the reliability of which plays an important role. The more open and diverse the global world becomes, the more difficult it is to determine which facts are important and what consequences can be drawn from them for human action. Instead of a reflexive approach to the results of scientific research, today one often encounters a populist approach to science. Its results are used to support preconceived opinions. One is not interested in new findings but aims at the disparagement of people of other opinions and their hateful insult. A destructive division of society is the result of the debates that are so important for the future of humanity.

Opis:
The problem of the FACTS (Flexible Alternative Current Transmission System Devices) location and size for reactive power system compensation through the multi-objective optimization is presented in this paper. A new technique is proposed for the optimal setting, dimension and design of two kinds of FACTS namely: Static Volt Ampere reactive (VAR) Compensator (SVC) and Thyristor Controlled Series Compensator (TCSC) handling the minimization of transmission losses in electrical network. Using the proposed scheme, the type, the location and the rating of FACTS devices are optimized simultaneously. The problem to solve is multi criteria under constraints related to the load flow equations, the voltages, the transformer turn ratios, the active and reactive productions and the compensation devices. Its solution requires the the advanced algorithms to be applied. Thus, we propose an approach based on the evolutionary algorithms (EA) to solve multi-criterion problem. It is similar to the NSGA-II method (Ellitist Non Dominated Sorting Genetic Algorithm). The Pareto front is obtained for continuous, discrete and multiple of five MVArs (Mega Volt Ampere reactive) of compensator devices for the IEEE 57-bus test system (IEEE bus test is a standard network).

This text analyzes the motivation behind choosing particular books in a given period, with a special emphasis on the literary reportage, which has broken into the collective consciousness of macedonian reading audience and now slowly gains popularity. The article also provides information on the current situation of literary translators and the publishing houses’ modes of operation What is also described here are the main determinants of literary translation, which vary in individual cases.

This paper addresses the state-variable stabilising control of the power system using such series FACTS devices as TCPAR installed in the tie-line connecting control areas in an interconnected power system. This stabilising control is activated in the transient state and is supplementary with respect to the main steady-state control designed for power flow regulation. Stabilising control laws, proposed in this paper, have been derived for a linear multi-machine system model using direct Lyapunov method with the aim to maximise the rate of energy dissipation during power swings and therefore maximisation their damping. The proposed control strategy is executed by a multi-loop controller with frequency deviations in all control areas used as the input signals. Validity of the proposed state-variable control has been confirmed by modal analysis and by computer simulation for a multi-machine test system.

W artykule przeanalizowano wpływ sterowników FACTS (PST oraz IPC) na pracę połączenia transgranicznego Polska-Niemcy. Stwierdzono, że przesuwnik fazowy PST spełnia podstawowe wymagania i tylko w niewielkim stopniu wpływa na automatykę zabezpieczeniową. Jego rozbudowa do układu międzyfazowego sterownika mocy IPC umożliwiłaby dodatkowo odcięcie się od zakłóceń pochodzących z niemieckiego systemu, jednakże wymagałaby istotnych zmian w automatyce zabezpieczeniowej.
Unplanned energy flow from Germany via Poland to the Czech Republic caused overheating of transmission lines in the west of our country. In order to prevent the necessity to switch off these lines, phase shift transformers (PST) were placed on the border. However, the German system is highly saturated with wind electricity and therefore difficult to steer, which makes it a source of interference for neighbouring countries. The article analyses the impact of flexible AC transmission system (FACTS) drivers on the operation of the Poland-Germany cross-border electrical connection. It was found that the PST meets the basic requirements and has only a slight influence on the protection automatics. Expanding it to the interphase power controller (IPC) would additionally cut off the interference from the German system, however, it would require profound changes in the protection automatics.

W pracy przedstawiono możliwość zastosowania sygnałów uzyskanych za pomocą WAMS (wide area monitoring system) do sterowania urządzeniami FACTS (flexible alternating current transmission system), w celu poprawy stabilności systemu elektroenergetycznego (SEE). Algorytm sterowania urządzeniami FACTS, zaproponowany w tej pracy, uwzględnia zmienne stanu ze wszystkich podsystemów. Algorytm ten został wyprowadzony przy wykorzystaniu bezpośredniej metody Lapunowa, dla liniowego wielomaszynowego modelu SEE. W celu udowodnienia skuteczności działania proponowanego algorytmu oraz słuszności założonej tezy stworzono modele matematyczne połączonych systemów elektroenergetycznych z uwzględnieniem szeregowych urządzeń FACTS w liniach wymiany międzysystemowej. Uzyskane wyniki symulacyjne oraz analiza modalna potwierdziły, iż zaproponowany algorytm w znaczącym stopniu przyczynia się do szybkiego wytłumienia kołysań mocy, w połączonym SEE, po wystąpieniu zakłócenia, jednocześnie przyczyniając się do zmniejszenia oscylacji częstotliwości. Dzięki zastosowaniu proponowanego algorytmu, można uzyskać poprawę stabilności systemu elektroenergetycznego, poprzez zmniejszenie kołysań wirników generatorów synchronicznych.
This paper presents the possibility of application of wide area measurements systems (WAMS) to stability enhancing control of FACTS devices installed in tie-lines of interconnected power system. The created algorithm of the control of FACTS devices with system stabilizer takes into consideration frequencies from all subsystems. The proposed algorithm of the control has been obtained from direct Lyapunov method, for linear multi-machine power system model. Mathematical models of interconnected power systems with the use of series FACTS in tie-lines have been created in order to provide efficiency of the proposed algorithm and correctness of the assumed thesis. Obtained simulation results and the modal analysis confirmed that the proposed algorithm is contributing to quick damping swings in power system after disturbance, at the same time contributing to reducing oscillation of the frequency. Thanks to proposed algorithm it is possible to obtain the improvement in stability of the power system.

In this paper coordination of fuzzy power system stabilizer (FPSS) and flexible ac transmission systems (FACTS) have been considered in a multi-machine power system. The proposed model, has been applied for a wide-area power system. The proposed FPSS presented with local, nonlinear feedbacks, and the corresponding control synthesis conditions are given in terms of solutions to a set of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). For this model, in fuzzy control synthesis, the new proposed control design method is based on fewer fuzzy rules and less computational burden. Also, the parameters of FACTS controller have been evaluated by improved honey bee mating optimization (IHBMO). The effectiveness of the proposed method has been applied over two case studies of single-machine infinite-bus (SMIB) and two areas four machine (TAFM) Kundur’s power system. The obtained results demonstrate the superiority of proposed strategy.

Rok Reformacji w Niemczech zbiega się z ogłoszeniem przez Niemiec-kie Stowarzyszenie do Spraw Języka roku 2016 rokiem słowa „postfaktyczny”, „postprawdziwościowy”. Słowo to ma określać nie preferencję prawd obiektywnych tudzież wrażliwość nie na fakty, lecz koncentrację na emo-cjach. Jest to zagadnienie również natury teologicznej, teologia ewangelicka porusza się bowiem w obszarze pomiędzy subiektywnością a Bożym Objawieniem. Zagadnienie postfaktyczności zostało w niniejszym studium ukazane z perspektywy teologii objawienia. Rok Reformacji znajduje się w kontekście kulturowym pomiędzy koniunkturą kultury pamięci i teoriami pamięci. Objawia się to między innymi emocjonalną dyskusją, czy Kościół ewangelicki powinien się zdystansować od późnych antyjudaistycznych pism Lutra. Poszczególni myśliciele sugerują, by dokonywać osądów historycznych Reformacji nie poprzez faktyczną analizę wydarzeń, lecz poprzez ich kulturowe, późniejsze oddziaływanie na różne obszary aktywności społecznej. Pośród wielu opozycji fakty-emocje szczególne znaczenie ma pojęcie objawienia, jak też Melanchtonowa definicja wiary j konglomeratu wiedzy, woli i uczuć, gdyż zgodnie z dzisiejszymi tendencjami Melanchton faworyzował znaczenie uczucia w fenomenie wiary. Różnica sytuacji współczesnej względem reformacyjnej jest jednak taka, że we współczesnym świecie zdominowanym przez media społecznościowe i sieć powiązań jest znaczeni łatwiej wchodzić w interakcje pomiędzy wirtualnym a realnym światem, co powoduje znacznie łatwiej odróżniać emocje od faktów. W Podsumowaniu (4) zostało wskazane, że teologia powinna dokonywać ewaluacji samej siebie w aktualnej sytuacji rzeczywistości „postfaktycznej”, czyli „postprawdziwościowej”. Teologia powinna brać również krytyczny udział w aktualnej debacie społecznej na ten temat.
Anniversary of the Reformation begins under „post truth“ conditions in a number of European and overseas countries. The post truth condition (1), which favours emotions over facts, is, however, also a theological issue in that the differentiation between revelation-oriented and subjectivist under-standings of God‘s revelation to mankind runs along the same lines of facts and emotions. This problem is discussedin the context of both anniversary of the Reformation and the dogmatic topic of revelation itself. The present reformation anniversary (2) benefits from a general rise in memory culture and theories of memory. It is discussed whether the way in which Luther is presently pictured by church officials is in itself a case of post truth in how Luther‘s late writings against the Jews are rebuked by these churches. It is suggested to judge the historical development of the Reformation churches not according to reception history, but to the cultural effects the Reformation has prompted in various fields of society. Among the many oppositions between a fact-based and an emotion-based approach to the Protestant concept of revelation (3), Melanchthon‘s threefold concept of belief (knowledge, volition, affect) is considered particularly helpful to evaluate the present „post truth“ situation because Melanchthon clearly favours affection over knowledge. The difference of a post truth situation is, however, that a restructuring of affective involvement of people in a given situation is much easier in a world of social media and networks where interaction between virtual and real worlds allows for detaching emotions from facts. In sum (4), theology should evaluate its own possible effects on the present „post truth“ situation and act accordingly by either taking responsibility or entering into a critical debate.

In the course of excavations carried out on site 1 in Prusak the remains of an early medieval settlement from the previous phases of early Middle Ages was recorded. These were ground relics of residential features and accompanying traces of utility features in the form of pits, used primarily to store and process food. They created recurring, mutually differing binary systems interpreted as homesteads inhabited by nuclear families. It was assumed that they were created at different times, which was confirmed by the analysis of formal features of ceramic sets. Ceramics collections coming from the above mentioned systems were treated just as monuments obtained from compact sets. Also the production zone was distinguished, consisting of wood-tar pits and accompanying residential buildings. It functioned in the period between leaving the first complex of homesteads and creation of the second. It was preceded with a quite long settlement hiatus, during which trees grew that were used for the production of wood tar.

Power system oscillation damping controller design: a novel approach of integrated HHO-PSO algorithm

Opis:
The hybridization of a recently suggested Harris hawk’s optimizer (HHO) with the traditional particle swarm optimization (PSO) has been proposed in this paper. The velocity function update in each iteration of the PSO technique has been adopted to avoid being trapped into local search space with HHO. The performance of the proposed Integrated HHO-PSO (IHHOPSO) is evaluated using 23 benchmark functions and compared with the novel algorithms and hybrid versions of the neighbouring standard algorithms. Statistical analysis with the proposed algorithm is presented, and the effectiveness is shown in the comparison of grey wolf optimization (GWO), Harris hawks optimizer (HHO), barnacles matting optimization (BMO) and hybrid GWO-PSO algorithms. The comparison in convergence characters with the considered set of optimization methods also presented along with the boxplot. The proposed algorithm is further validated via an emerging engineering case study of controller parameter tuning of power system stability enhancement problem. The considered case study tunes the parameters of STATCOM and power system stabilizers (PSS) connected in a sample power network with the proposed IHHOPSO algorithm. A multi-objective function has been considered and different operating conditions has been investigated in this papers which recommends proposed algorithm in an effective damping of power network oscillations.

This paper constitutes an attempt to confront the image of the Arab community living in Poland with the self-image of this community. It is based on interviews and surveys conducted with the representatives of both groups (Arabs and Poles), which reveal some myths about Arabs most frequently repeated by Polish respondents, such as: ‘There are a lot of Arabs in Poland and they are everywhere’, ‘Arabs in Poland benefit from social welfare as in Western countries’, ‘Arabs (immigrants) are stealing jobs from Poles’, ‘When you buy a kebab, you settle an Arab’, ‘Arabs in Poland do not integrate with Poles’, ‘Arab means Muslim, Muslim means Arab’, ‘Arabs are the most unpopular nation in Poland’, and other widespread stereotypes relating to the Arab community. These myths and stereotypes were confronted with the results of the author of this paper’s own research, which undermines their legitimacy.
