- Opis:
- Examinations were conducted on 296 children which included newborns and up to the age of 4 years for the presence of Protozoa and Hyphomycetes in their stools. The children were arranged into groups: 112 suffering from diarrhoea, 79 newborns with irregular stools and 108 healthy children with normal bowel discharges. A total number of 920 combined examinations: chemical, coprocytological, protozoological and mycological were conducted. It was found that most frequently Hyphomycetes were present in children treated with antibiotics and in the newborns up to the 30th day of life. Among these children various Hyphomycetes were detected 7-9 times more frequently than in the healthy controls. Protozoa of the species Lamblia intestinalis occurred more frequently associated with Hyphomycetes than separately. Lamblia intestinalis was detected in 33 per cent of the diseased children, in 18,4 per cent of the newborns and in 17 per cent of the normal children. Hyphomycetes were isolated in 45,5 per cent of the diseased children, 18,7 per cent of the cases were invaded with Candida albicans. Among the newborns there were 26,5 per cent of the cases invaded with Hyphomycetes and in this 10,5 per cent of the cases were invaded with Candida albicans. Hyphomycetes were isolated in 7,4 per cent of the controls and in this number were only 2 cases with Candida albicans. In view of the high percentage of the detected Lamblia intestinalis and Candida albicans there is need to conduct combined coprological examinations and complex treatment of the patients.
