Opis:
This paper presents analytical methods for determination of the curve for a high-cycle fatigue. It has been found based on qualitative and quantitative verification that the error introduced by these methods can be as large as 3-fold length of the experimental life. In addition, the wrong result can lay on either the safe or the unsafe side with equal probability. Therefore, an analytical-and-experimental (hybrid) method has been proposed. Verification of computed characteristics vs. experimental data demonstrated that the “proprietary” proposal reduced the error. In addition, an approximate error depending on the number of experiments has been determined based on the computations.

The study presents two approaches to plotting an S-N curve based on the experimental results. The first approach is commonly used by researchers and presented in detail in many studies and standard documents. The model uses a linear regression whose parameters are estimated by using the least squares method. A staircase method is used for an unlimited fatigue life criterion. The second model combines the S-N curve defined as a straight line and the record of random occurrence of the fatigue limit. A maximum likelihood method is used to estimate the S-N curve parameters. Fatigue data for C45+C steel obtained in the torsional bending test were used to compare the estimated S-N curves. For pseudo-random numbers generated by using the Mersenne Twister algorithm, the estimated S-N curve for 10 experimental results plotted by using the second model, estimates the fatigue life in the scatter band of the factor 3. The result gives good approximation, especially regarding the time required to plot the S-N curve.

The paper presents two approaches of determining S-N fatigue characteristics. The first is a commonly used and well-documented approach based on the least squares method and staircase method for limited fatigue life and fatigue limit, accordingly. The other approach employs the maximum likelihood method. The analysis of the parameters obtained through both approaches exhibited minor differences. The analysis was performed for four steel construction materials, i.e. C45+C, 45, SUS630 and AISI 1045. It should be noted that the quantity of samples required in the second approach is significantly smaller than with the first approach, which translates into lower duration and costs of tests.

The article collates guidelines concerning experimental construction of the S-N fatigue curves within a limited fatigue life range. An attempt is made to compare these guidelines, based on experimental data recorded during rotating bending of a notched specimen made of 42CrMo4. The recorded differences in fatigue life values between the constructed curves reach the maximum of 12.2%. According to the above guidelines, the number of tests in particular test series varies from 6 to 28. Based on the performed analysis a conclusion was made that the increase in the number of tests leads to the increase of accuracy but, on the other hand, remarkably increases the time of the experiment and, consequently, its cost. In this context, it is the research worker who, taking into account a possible future use of the fatigue curve, should individually decide about its accuracy.

The aim of this research was an attempt to obtain radish plants enriched with iodine by means of foliar application and soil fertilization with two forms of iodine – KI and KIO3. The effect of iodine on radish yielding and its antioxidant characteristic was determined. It was demonstrated that the form of applied iodine and the way of its application had a meaningful effect on the quantity of biological yield and leaf mass. Although all plants accumulated greater amounts of iodine in comparison with the control, it was best manifested in case of foliar application, as well as combined foliar application and soil fertilization of radish with KI form as 34.17 and 29.30 mg I kg–1 f.m., respectively. Although, the effect of the form of applied iodine as well as the way of its application on antioxidant characteristics of radish was not revealed, the content of phenolic compounds turned out to be significantly higher than in case of foliar application combined with soil fertilization with both forms of iodine.
Celem podjętych badań była próba uzyskania roślin rzodkiewki wzbogaconych w jod poprzez zastosowanie dokarmiania dolistnego oraz nawożenia doglebowego dwoma formami jodu - KI oraz KIO3. Określono również wpływ jodu na plonowanie rzodkiewki oraz jej właściwości antyoksydacyjne. Wykazano, że forma użytego jodu oraz sposób jego aplikacji miały statystycznie istotny wpływ na ilość plonu biologicznego i masę liści. Chociaż wszystkie rośliny akumulowały większe ilości jodu w porównaniu z kontrolą to jednak najbardziej uwidoczniło się to przy dolistnym dokarmianiu, jak również przy łącznym dokarmianiu dolistnym i nawożeniu doglebowym rzodkiewki formą KI odpowiednio 34,17 oraz 29,30 mgI kg -1 ś.m. Pomimo, iż nie wykazano statystycznie istotnego wpływu zarówno formy użytego jodu oraz sposobu aplikacji tego pierwiastka na właściwości antyoksydacyjne rzodkiewki, to zawartość sumy związków fenolowych okazała się istotnie większa w przypadku łącznego dokarmiania dolistnego jak i nawożenia doglebowego roślin rzodkiewki obiema formami jodu.

The paper evaluates the causes related to the fatigue damage in a conveyor slide plate, exposed to high-frequency cyclic loads. The plate was made of 1.4301 acid-resistant steel. The fractography showed that the plate failure was caused by fatigue crack. A nonlinear analysis of plate deformation was conducted using the finite element method (FEA) in LS-Dyna software. The maximum normal stresses in the plate fracture were used in further analysis. A “fatigue limit” calculated initially using a FITNET procedure was above the maximum stress calculated using FEA. It indicates that the structural features of the plate were selected correctly. The experimental test results for 1.4301 acid-resistant steel were described using a probabilistic Weibull distribution model. Reliability was determined for the obtained S-N curve at 50% and 5% failure probability allowing for the selected coefficients (cycle asymmetry, roughness, variable load) and the history of cyclic loading. Cumulative damage was determined using the Palmgren-Miner hypothesis. The estimated fatigue life was similar to the actual value determined in the operating conditions for the S-N curve at 5% failure probability. For engineering calculations, the S-N curve at max. 5% failure probability is recommended.

Article describes usage of performance dashboard for monitoring e-marketing campaign. Authors have outlined e-marketing role in modern organization, defined performance dashboard and key performance indicators in e-marketing context. In practical part of this article Google Analytics dashboards have been characterized and case study of its usage in e-marketing campaign have been presented.

The role of relaxation oscillator models in application fields such as modeling dynamic systems and image analysis is discussed. A short review of the Van der Pol,Wilson-Cowan and Terman-Wang relaxation oscillators is given. The key property of such nonlinear oscillators, i.e., the oscillator phase shift (called the Phase Response Curve) as a result of external pulse stimuli is indicated as a fundamental mechanism to achieve and sustain synchrony in networks of coupled oscillators. It is noted that networks of such oscillators resemble a variety of naturally occurring phenomena (e.g., in electrophysiology) and dynamics arising in engineering systems. Two types of oscillator networks exhibiting synchronous behaviors are discussed. The network of oscillators connected in series for modeling a cardiac conduction system is used to explain causes of important cardiac abnormal rhythms. Finally, it is shown that a 2D network of coupled oscillators is an effective tool for segmenting image textures in biomedical images.

The article presents the principle of operation and selected results of simulation and laboratory tests of the 18-pulse rectifier system with coupled reactors and small series active power filter. The presented system makes it possible to reduce, especially in distribution supply networks, undesired higher current harmonics. The 18-pulse nature of operation of the rectifier is reached using a set of coupled three-phase network reactors (CDT and CTR). The simultaneous use of the coupled reactors and the small active power filter provides opportunities for reduction of the supply current distortion, especially in case of voltage harmonic distortion and voltage unbalance.

The paper presents an algorithm for estimating the motion of a stereovision camera. The movement is calculated on the base of a sequence of depth pictures. While moving the camera can be held in hands without much impact on the prediction accuracy. The algorithm provides real-time data processing when a 2.5 GHz dual core computer is used.

W pracy pokazano, że podział skał złożowych i otaczających na strop, wyrobisko i spąg jest statystycznie istotny. Ocenę podziału oparto na analizie wariancji i klasyfikacji pojedynczej. Badania przeprowadzono dla sześciu parametrów górotworu, która zawierała dokumentacja pomiarów.
It was shown in the paper that differentiation of rock massif into roof, seam and floor rocks is statistically significant. Variance analysis and one parameter classification were utilized to carry out required computation. Six rock parameters from laboratory data were taken into account.
