Opis:
Assimilation and photosynthetic efficiency (maximal quantum yield) of young oaks were compared in coppice and standard sessile oak stands of comparable age (100 years) under different light intensity categories: under minimum light – ISF < 20%, low light – 20%30% during favourable and drought conditions. Measurements of maximal assimilation rates were performed at a constant temperature of the measurement block (20°C), a CO2 concentration of 400 μmol/l, flow 500 μmol/s and different light intensities: 0, 50, 250, 600, 1200 and 1800 μmol/m2s during three consecutive growing seasons (2012, 2013 and 2014). In every category at least 8 young naturally regenerated seedlings and sprouts of different coppice stools were measured. The quantum yield in optimal conditions in standards was highest in the category of closed canopy, while in coppices in medium light category. During severe drought in 2013 the drop in efficiency of standards was evident in all categories, while in coppices no differences in efficiency were observed between favourable 2012 and 2013 with expressed drought stress, proving the advantage of young coppices over standards in this particular light category. However, the beneficial effects of restoration coppicing are not guaranteed. It is our belief that in time such advantage might decrease; it would be therefore interesting to compare responses in time and define, when response abilities of both studied systems become equal.

Opis:
In this paper we demonstrate a theoretical study for photothermal measurements on inhomogeneous coatings. First, a general photothermal mathematical model for thermal gradient materials is presented. Then, we discuss the effects of inhomogeneous thermal properties in photothermal amplitude and phase spectra of coatings. Finally, a method for quantitative depth profiling that makes use of prior knowledge about the type of profile existing in a sample to reduce the instabilities associated with the mathematically ill conditioned task is demonstrated.

Opis:
Transport coefficients for electrons in mixtures of $CF_{4}$ with Ar and $O_{2}$ for ratios of the electric field to the gas number density E/N from 1 Td to 1000 Td ($1Td=10^{-21} V m^2$) are presented. The analysis of non-conservative collisions revealed a range of the reduced electric field E/N where electron attachment introduced by radicals significantly changes electron kinetics obtained for mixtures without dissociation of $CF_{4}$ gas. The results obtained by using a simple, Two Term solutions for Boltzmann's equation are verified by Monte Carlo simulations. It was found that three body attachments for oxygen is not significant for pressures that are standard in plasma etching equipment i.e. below 1 Torr. Furthermore, the attachment to CF, $CF_{2}$ and $CF_{3}$ at low mean energies is significant, several orders of magnitude. At the same time the mean energy and energy distribution functions for the given E/N are the same as in unperturbed gas mixture. The large changes of the attachment rate are sufficient to change the nature of plasmas and turn them into ion-ion plasmas with very few electrons for realistic abundances.

Opis:
The dispersion law, density states of phonons, thermodynamics properties and thermal conductivity was analyzed in this paper. It has been shown that at low temperatures, thermal conductivity of thin film is considerably lower that of bulk-structure. It turned out that phonons in thin film require activation energy for exciting. This leads to extremely low specific heat and specific conductivity at low temperatures. Consequences of quoted facts were discussed in detail and their influence on kinetic and thermodynamic properties of thin films is estimated.

Opis:
We propose an adaptation of the partitioning method for determination of the Moore–Penrose inverse of a matrix augmented by a block-column matrix. A simplified implementation of the partitioning method on specific Toeplitz matrices is obtained. The idea for observing this type of Toeplitz matrices lies in the fact that they appear in the linear motion blur models in which blurring matrices (representing the convolution kernels) are known in advance. The advantage of the introduced method is a significant reduction in the computational time required to calculate the Moore–Penrose inverse of specific Toeplitz matrices of an arbitrary size. The method is implemented in MATLAB, and illustrative examples are presented.

Opis:
In the false twist texturing process, due to the action of mechanical forces and heat, a disorientation of structural elements happens at all levels of the supramolecular structure. These changes are related to changes in the texturing parameters and mechanical properties of yarn. In this paper, investigated is the effect of technical-technological texturing parameters in the false twist texturing process on the structure of PA6.6 yarns. POY multifilament PA6.6 with a fineness of 22f07x1 dtex was used as experimental material. The yarn was textured on a friction texturing machine - ICBT model FT 15 E3. The exiting yarn speed (Vi) changed as 600, 700, 800 and 900 m/min; the heater temperature (T) was 200, 210 and 220 °C, and the ratio of the disk surface speed to the linear yarn speed (D/Y) was 1.9 and 2.1. The values of strain were kept constant at 1.305 (tension in texturing zone) and 0,954 in the winding zone. Analysed were the density, degree of crystallinity, degree of orientation, single filament diameter, the content of -NH2 and -COOH end groups, and the total content of end groups. From the results obtained it can be seen that the effect of the heater temperature is more significant than that of Vi and D/Y on the structural characteristics analysed. Analysing the experimental results it was found that linear positive correlations were established between the texturing speed and end (-NH2) groups, the texturing speed and end (-COOH) groups and the texturing speed and the total content of end groups. The correlation factor between the process parameters and yarn structural characteristics analysed is determined.
W procesie teksturowania, w wyniku działania sił mechanicznych i wysokich temperatur, ma miejsce dezorientacja elementów strukturalnych. W pracy zbadano wpływ parametrów technicznych i technologicznych procesu teksturowania na strukturę przędzy poliamidowej. Jako materiał doświadczalny zastosowano multifilamentowy PA6.6 POY. Zastosowano trzy prędkości wyjściowe przędzy: 600, 700, 800 i 900 m/min, a temperatura ogrzewania wynosiła 200, 210 i 220 °C. Analizowano gęstość, stopień krystaliczności, stopień orientacji, średnicę poszczególnych filamentów, zawartość grup końcowych -NH2 i -COOH oraz całkowitą zawartość grup końcowych. Na podstawie uzyskanych wyników stwierdzono, że na analizowane właściwości strukturalne ma większy wpływ temperatura, niż prędkości wyjściowych przędzy. Po analizie wyników badań określono współczynnik korelacji między parametrami procesu a analizowanymi cechami strukturalnymi przędzy.

Barium titanate ceramics doped with 0.3 mol.% lanthanum and co-doped with 0.3 mol.% lanthanum and 0.05 mol.% manganese were investigated. The powders were prepared by a modified polymeric precursor method based on the Pechini process. The ceramics were obtained by sintering at 1300C for 8 h. The influence of dopants on structural changes and grain size reduction was analyzed. The presence of dopants influenced the tetragonality of the barium titanate crystal structure. Reduction of polygonal grain size with dopant addition was noticed. In the doped ceramics, characteristic phase transitions were shifted to lower temperatures in comparison with pure barium titanate. The dielectric permittivity value showed the tendency of a slight increase with lanthanum addition and further increase with adding of manganese. La as a single dopant increased the diffuseness of phase transitions indicating the formation of a diffuse ferroelectric material but in the co-doped ceramics the phase transition diffuseness decreased. The resistivity of the co-doped ceramics was higher than for lanthanum doped ceramics, indicating possible segregation of manganese at grain boundaries that influenced the total resistivity of the material.

Barium titanate, $BaTiO_3$ ceramic powders were prepared by mechanochemical synthesis and by the Pechini method. A powder mixture of BaO and $TiO_2$ was treated in a planetary ball mill in an air atmosphere for up to 1 h, using zirconium oxide vial and zirconium oxide balls as the milling medium. After 60 min $BaTiO_3$ phase was formed. In both ways $BaTiO_3$ ceramics were sintered after 2 h on 1300°C without pre-calcinations step. The heating rate was 10°C $\text{min}^{-1}$. The formation of phase and crystal structure of $BaTiO_3$ was approved by X-ray diffraction analysis and the Raman spectroscopy. The morphology and microstructure of obtained powders were examined by scanning electron microscopy method. Sharp phase transition from ferroelectric to paraelectric state was observed. The hysteresis loop is very well performed with regular sharp characteristic of ferroelectric materials.

In this paper we used the available data for the electron impact scattering cross sections $BF_{3}$ to calculate the transport coefficients for electrons. Monte Carlo simulation was used to perform calculations of the transport coefficients as well as the rate coefficients in DC electric fields, crossed electric and magnetic DC and RF fields.

Opis:
In this paper we present Raman scattering and photoluminescence spectra measured on CdTe/ZnTe self assembled quantum dots. The photoluminescence spectrum has shown two main emission peaks, both connected with existing of quantum dots. One presents direct deexcitation to ground state and the other is optical phonon (οmega = 207.3 $cm^{-1}$)-assisted deexcitation. The registered multiphonon emission process depends on temperature. At low temperature phonon spectra shows line at 450 $cm^{-1}$ (TA + 2LO in ZnTe) and 595 $cm^{-1}$ (2LO + TO(Γ) in ZnTe).

We present far-infrared reflection spectra of Pb$\text{}_{0.95}$Mn$\text{}_{0.05}$Te single crystal doped with gallium between 10 and 300 K. The analysis of the far-infrared reflection spectra was made by a fitting procedure based on the model of coupled oscillators. Together with the strong plasmon-phonon coupling we obtain three local modes of gallium at about 122 cm$\text{}^{-1}$, 166 cm$\text{}^{-1}$, and 192 cm$\text{}^{-1}$. The position of these modes depends on impurity center charge, and their intensity depends on temperature.
