Opis:
The text "Fritz von Unruh - the follower of Tolstoy's view" deals with the views, attitude and political activities of an eminent writer Fritz von Unruh who came from the well-known family of Prussian junkers who served for many generations the Prussian kings and the Wilhelm Reich. His experiences of the I World War brought about a distinct change in the writer's attitude, namely, he turned toward pacifism and antimilitarism. Thesis of the work proclaims: von Unruh was under the influence of Leo Tolstoy's views, which by necessity must have led to misunderstanding of the principle obligatory for each writer-politician. Namely, to want, to desire - is one thing, whereas to be able to is another thing. Not differentiating between "the spirit" and "act" (cf. Max Weber) must have ended with the inefficiency of actions of the writer von Unruh - the actions of a distinct moral option.

Opis:
Although the presence of German language literature in handbooks and readers used in teaching literature in high schools and technical schools has undergone the evolution within the last fifty years, it has not changed so much as not being able to determine several relevant characteristics of its presence. (The above mentioned applies also to the reading list.) There are three features which seem to be especially distinctive for establishing the place of German language literature in teaching: 1. the German literature emerges everywhere where it is an argument for the existence of the world literature (Goethe, Schiller); 2. writers whose works influenced the Polish literature, and who made friends with Polish writers are eagerly referred to during the lectures on history of literature; 3. Those writers whose works preserve the essential cultural and philosophical issues (Kafka, Thomas Mann, Brecht), occupy a prominent place in a projected picture of the world Jilerature. The polilical, social and ideological changes taking place in Poland nowadays, have also flourished with rather essential changes in the programme of teaching literature. However, it has not been so essential as to make noticeable changes in the adopting of German literature.

Opis:
In a cycle of novels of Horst Bienek (the so called Gliwice tetralogy: The first Polk Earth and fire, September light, Time without bells which cocreates the phenomenon of the new "Heimatliteratur" or the new "Grenzliteratur" (The literature of the border) we can find a distinct polemic with the understanding of the concept "Heimat" which (may be) was valid during Romanticism, when Eichendorff lived. Analysing four most important fragments of Gliwice tetralogy in which Horst Bienek - using varying narrations - gives subject and problems on the "presence" of von Eichendorff's works in the German community in Silesia of the 20's, 30's and 40's of our century; the author draws a conclusion that through the clash of experiences of the German Jew Montag with the evocated images of von Eichendorff of "Heimat", on the native land there occurs a kind of shattering of illusions of existence of the world - still possible during Eichendorff's times - based on "non-asymmetrical" categories (in Reinhard Kosellecks' understanding).
