The monograph covers the main aspects of studies on West African languages related to the diversity of structural patterns and complexity of their linguistic assignment. It includes various topics ranging from linguistic description and conceptualization patterns to the sociolinguistics of contemporary refugee camps. Typological diversity is enriched with the presentation of pidgin structures and sign languages. Structural differences between languages are seen from a comparative perspective, which also indicates the areal dimension of linguistic processes. The presentations of linguists from both Europe and Africa develop the idea of convergence area in West Africa, which is motivated by the contact between languages of different affiliations to language families and common cultural basis of language development.
Monografia dotyczy najważniejszych cech typologicznych języków Afryki Zachodniej i wspólnoty komunikacyjnej, uzasadniającej nazwanie tego regionu Afryki obszarem konwergencji i wspólnych cech arealnych. Autorzy łączą różne sposoby badania oraz tradycje opisu języków, dotychczas skupiające się na ujęciach synchronicznych i diachronicznych w obrębie rodzin językowych. Rozwijają tezę o obszarze konwergencji językowej Afryki Zachodniej, stanowiącą ważne zagadnienie w ramach lingwistyki arealnej i aktualny temat badawczy afrykanistyki. Złożoność i dynamikę językową Afryki Zachodniej ukazują przez pryzmat różnorodnych typów języka obejmujących pidżyny i języki migowe. Publikacja jest wynikiem międzynarodowej konferencji 3rd Symposium on West African languages, która odbyła się w dniach 26-29 września 2018 roku w Warszawie. Adresowana jest przede wszystkim do językoznawców zajmujących się typologią języków, komunikacją językową, lingwistyką kulturową, socjolingwistyką w wymiarze zarówno wewnątrzsystemowym, jak i porównawczym, pokazującym odrębności strukturalne między językami i wzajemne relacje między językami pozostającymi w kontakcie. Autorami monografii są specjaliści zajmujący się językami Afryki Zachodniej z ośrodków europejskich (Paryż, Neapol, Oslo, Brighton, Frankfurt n/Menem, Moskwa) i uniwersytetów nigeryjskich (Kano, Calabar, Benin, Ibadan) oraz językoznawcy z warszawskiego ośrodka afrykanistycznego.

Opis:
The influence of magnetic field on the sound attenuation is investigated in ferromagnets. With the aid of the Nelson method we derive frequency-, magnetic field- and temperature-dependent expression for the sound attenuation coefficient near a critical point in the Ising-type system. The shift of the ultrasonic attenuation peak under the influence of magnetic field towards higher temperatures is discussed.

The nonasymptotic critical properties of sound propagation are studied in compressible Ising system above T$\text{}_{C}$. In the present paper we analyse a model where in addition to the coupling to two order-parameter fluctuations the sound mode couples linearly to the fluctuations of spin-energy and lattice-energy densities. Both subsystems exchange energy with the rate determined by the bare spin-lattice relaxation time. The total energy may be conserved or not. The crossover between insulator-like behaviour ~t$\text{}^{-2α}$ and metal-like behaviour ~t$\text{}^{-(zν+α)}$ in ultrasonic attenuation is investigated according to the value of ultrasonic frequency, the reduced temperature t, bare relaxation times and various coupling constants.

Emergency lighting is necessary in order to prevent unexpected black-outs. This article presents legal requirements and the latest standards on this matter. Various kinds and aims of emergency lighting are discussed in detail, as are the principles of mounting luminaries and emergency signs.

This paper presents the requirements for the method and extent of testing of non coherent optical radiation at work places, as well as the meters used for tests. The requirements are based on the current standards in the field of optical radiation. The scope of the exposure measurements are presented in conjunction with the current values of MDE. There is a description of the method of determining the angular dimension of radiation source á and how to calculate the effective source radiance from the measured effective irradiance. At the end, the paper presents the recommended frequency of testing and suggestions concerning the content of the study.

A semiphenomenological model of sound propagation in a critical magnetic system is proposed, which takes into account a relaxation of energy between the system of localised spins and the conduction electron spins as well as the coupling of the longitudinal phonon to bilinear combination of spin fluctuations and to the energy densities. A general expression for the acoustic self-energy is obtained within the one-loop approximation. The effect of "bottlenecking" and its influence on the critical singularities in the sound characteristics is discussed.

The critical behaviour of sound attenuation has been studied in an elastically isotropic Ising system above the critical point on the basis of a complete stochastic model including both spin-energy and lattice-energy modes linearly coupled to the longitudinal sound mode. The effect of spin-lattice relaxation on the ultrasonic attenuation is investigated. The crossover between Kawasaki behaviour and Murata-Iro-Schwabl behaviour is studied as dependent on the values of ultrasonic frequency, reduced temperature, relaxation times, etc. A new high-frequency regime is discussed in the magnetic systems. This new regime corresponds to an adiabatic sound propagation and is very similar to the ones in binary mixture and liquid helium. A new frequency-dependent specific heat being the harmonic average of the bare lattice and critical spin specific heats is introduced. It was shown that such specific heat describes the process of equilibration between spin and lattice subsystems and includes the most important features of critical sound attenuation.

The Latin Middle East in the Second Half of XIIIth century according to the Chronicle of So-called Templar of TyreThe aim of this short study is to present the problem, which has not yet appeared in the polish historical literature. The article treats of two main issues. First of them is concerned with the identity of the chronicle’s author, whereas the other one pays attention to the events emerged from his narrative. The Old French Chronique du Templier de Tyr constitutes the third part of the larger composition Les Gestes des Chiprois and describes the last decades of the Frankish rule in the Levant. The edition took place in 2000 and was prepared by Laura Minervini. In the chronicle one can notice the change of perspective. It is so, because the author did not belong to crucesignati, who every year were arriving to the Holy Land. He was born in the Latin East. As a member of the Frankish society he conducted his account, filled with intensive and personal memories, untill the culmination, which was the fall of Acre in 1291. The chronicler participated in that dramatic event. Although the story lasted till 1314 (the ultimate chronologically shown episode is the one related with the trial of the Templars and the death of the Grand Master Jacques de Molay), he continued the narrative, as it can be supposed, more from the sense of duty than from the inclination towards it. Moreover, his testimony is the only latin source that demonstrates the siege of the city by the Mameluks and its fall, as they were seen by the eye-witness. The reconstruction of the chronicler’s life and the solution of the problem, whether he was or not a member of the Templar military order finds difficulties, due to the lack of information. The only notes, that we have at our disposal, are the ones of the autobiographical character directly from the text. Presumably he was born in Tyre circa 1253, where he seems to have spent his youth. In 1269 he became one of four servants of Margaret of Antioch, the wife of John of Montfort, the lord of Tyre. He needed to be closely connected to both of them, because he was able to detect the changes in their physical appearance. After the death of John of Montfort in 1283 he left Tyre and moved to Acre, where he received work at the Templar secretariat. All that time he stayed in entourage of the Grand Master William of Beaujeu. He played an important role in the hierarchy of order. He was obliged to draw and copy documents. He even once translated from Arabic the letter of the Egyptian sultan. When Acre was captured by the Mamluks, as well the other inhabitants of the city, he fled to Cyprus. It is not possibile to determine with the accuracy, if the chronicler really joined the order or maybe remained a secular person, who was only temporary affiliated to the Templars. We are not able to propose any conclusion, because there is a deficiency of final evidence in favour or against of two mentioned options. The author described in detail the last years of the Latin States in the Middle East. He distinguished four fields of interest and focused on: the problem of succession in the Kingdom of Jerusalem, the antagonism between princes of Antioch (and at the same time counts of Tripoli) and Embriaco family, conflicts between Templars and Hospitallers and the Levantine rivalry between Genua and Venice. It is worth mentioning that the whole geographical horizon of the chronicle is really impressive. It spreads from the Western Europe to the Far East and from Constantinople to Gibraltar. In the middle of this world occurs Mediterranean with Syrian and Palestinian coast.

On the basis of the theory of phase transitions, a model describing anomalies of sound attenuation coefficient close to the antiferromagnet-paramagnet phase transition in magnetic field was developed. The scaling behaviour of the sound velocity and attenuation coefficient was determined. The physical origin of the two-peak structure in the field dependent ultrasound attenuation observed in a number of antiferromagnets was identified. The theoretical results were compared with experimental results obtained for terbium.

The concept of “the spirit of the time” includes in various historical periods a number of fields of human activity. These fields are philosophy of life, ideology and fashion. Philosophy denotes the acquisition of certain rules, ideology encompasses an often utopian idea created by man and imposed on society, and fashion appeals to human weaknesses offering the adjustment of customs (clothes, manner of speaking etc.) to current trends in lowbrow culture. By contrast the “church choir” is a group that exists and operates for the Church yet is not connected with any other institution (philharmonic, workplace etc.) Every historical period was characterised by specific “spirit of time”. In the Middle Ages attention was drawn towards God’s matters. At that time the pointed Gothic arches appeared along with tightly-bundled figures, stained-glass windows etc. That was Gothic art. The music of that time also corresponded to these general trends which bred the musical phenomenon that is the Gregorian chant. The Renaisance focused its interest on the beauty of the human body and well-buildings (broad windows). During that time the people developed vocal polyphony initiated in the Middle Ages. Baroque favored external ornamentation and the splendor of ceremonies. In this period the accompanied monody was created along with rich forms such as opera and oratory. Musical groups (cappellae) became very popular. Classicism and romanticism did not affect the music performed by church choirs. The 19 th Century constituted a return to the past. The Cecilian movement encouraged to the performing of the Gregorian chant, classic polyphony, church song and early-organ music. In the 20th Century music opened for completely new rules: special attention was paid to the sonorism and interval music was gradually abandoned in accordance with “the spirit of the time” which questioned the norms of composition that had been applicable in the past. Yet the repertoire suitable for church choirs was rarely created. Today choirs perform mainly early music.

Dane o nakładach inwestycyjnych na środki mechanizacji w piętnastu gospodarstwach indywidualnych, skonfrontowano z danymi GUS odnoszącymi się do całego rolnictwa oraz gospodarstw indywidualnych w Polsce.
Capital formation amounted to 23 % of the gross domestic product in Polish agriculture in 1991. The share of mechanization means in total investment outlay in agriculture was 27,4 %. Value of outlays for farm machinery per 1 ha of agricultural land amounted 157,3 thousand zł for Polish agriculture in total. Capital formation on examined farms approximated 20 % of agricultural income in 1992. The share of mechanization in total investment outlay was 63%. Value of outlays for farm machinery per 1 ha of agricultural land for selected examined farms amounted to 726 thousand zł.

Krzysztof Pawlak A Few Remarks on the Subversive in Psychoanalysis The text concentrates on a few basic but very often misunderstood psychoanalytic notions such as the unconscious and the subject and tries to show their subversive potential pointing to the anti-philosophical and anti-scientific status of psychoanalysis. Taking into consideration that philosophy is the “science” of the conscious mind, Freud’s discovery of the unconscious as something which by definition cannot be brought to consciousness founded psychoanalysis as anti-philosophy. Additionally, psychoanalytic distinction between “disinterested” knowledge and subjective truth grounds psychoanalysis as anti-scientific. Since the subjective truth can only be the truth of the subject of the unconscious, that is, the unconscious desire, and this truth as such can only be expressed in language in which there are no signifiers for the split subject, such truth always interrupts itself on the way and exists only as narrative fiction, never arriving at its consummation, always not-all.

Opis:
Niniejsze wytyczne mają na celu określenie standardu stosowania odwodnień liniowych z prefabrykowaną obudową żelbetową. Pod pojęciem odwodnienia powierzchni rozumie się odprowadzenie wód opadowych i roztopowych, zebranych uprzednio powierzchni utwardzonej za pośrednictwem różnego rodzaju urządzeń odwadniających (np. wpusty lub odwodnienia liniowe). W przypadku odwodnień punktowych odbiór wód deszczowych odbywa się w najniższym miejscu zlewni, natomiast w odwodnienia liniowe odbierają wodę deszczową na całej swojej długości.

Przedstawiono opinie rolników indywidualnych na temat ewentualnych zmian w rolniczym systemie podatkowym w Polsce w kontekście wprowadzania podatku dochodowego w rolnictwie. Prawie 40% badanych pozytywnie oceniło powyższą propozycję zmiany, chociaż pod pewnymi warunkami, a 31% twierdziło, że będzie to posunięcie niekorzystne dla rolników. Obawiali się oni głównie skomplikowanych rozliczeń i kar za nieprawidłowości w rozliczeniach oraz częstych kontroli organów podatkowych. Jednak odpowiednio 45 i 30% ankietowanych przewidywało, że zmiana może przyczynić się do zwiększenia inwestycji i ogólnego rozwoju gospodarstw indywidualnych.
The paper presents the opinion of farmers on the possible changes in the agricultural tax system. Attention was drawn to the expected positive changes and farmers’ concerns following the introduction of income tax in agriculture. The research shows that almost 40% of respondents positively evaluated the above proposal, and about one-third of them claimed that the taxation of agricultural activities will be very unfavourable for farmers. Following the changes, farmers are concerned about complicated tax settlements, penalties for irregularities in settlements and frequent inspections from the tax authorities. Approximately 40% of the respondents felt that any changes will affect the increase of the current tax burden on farms in Poland. 45 and 30% of the respondents, however, predicted that the above change may contribute to an increase in investments and overall development of farms.

The aim of the paper is to present the development tendencies and the significance of agrifood trade in selected preferential trade agreements in both Americas, Asia and Africa. The analysis included the values of trade turnover both within the region and in exchange with third countries, the share of the agri-food trade in the total trade in the region and the share of the regions under investigation in the global agri-food trade. The analysis allowed us to indicate the greatest global exporters and importers of agri-food products. The assessment of trade creation and trade diversion effect in agri-food trade of selected trade agreements was also possible.
