Charakterystyka wzrostu i owocowania nowych niemieckich odmian wiśni w warunkach klimatycznych centralnej Polski

New sour - cherry cultivars of German breeding were assessed for their usefulness for cultivation in the climatic conditions of central Poland. The study was conducted in the Experimental Or chard in D ą browice near Skierniewice over the years 2001 - 2009. The experimental material consisted of trees of the cultivars: ‘Morina’, ‘Safir’, ‘Topas’, ‘Karneol’, ‘Korund’ and ‘Vowi’, which were compared with two control (standard) cultivars: ‘ Ł utówka IR - 2’ and ‘Groniasta z Ujfehertoi’. The largest trunk cross - sectional area (TCSA) after nine years of growth in the orchard was attained by sour - cherry trees cv. ‘Karneol’. Strong growth was also shown by the trees of cv. ‘Korund’. Sour - cherry trees of cvs. ‘Vowi’, ‘Topas’ and ‘Safir’ did not differ in their growth vigour from ‘ Ł utówka’. The trees of cv. ‘Morina’ were notable for their good health throughout the whole period of the study. Cumulative yields obtained from all the cultivars under assessment over the period 2003 - 2009 were lower than the yields produced by the trees of cv. ‘ Ł utówka’, although in the case of the cultivar ‘Safir’ the difference was not statistically significant. The worst yielding, irrespective of the year, were the trees of cv. ‘Kar neol’. It should be emphasized, however, that this cultivar was distinguished by the largest fruits. ‘Korund’, ‘Topas’ and ‘Safir’ also produced larger fruits than the two control cultivars. The smallest fruits were collected from the trees of cvs. ‘Vowi’ and ‘Morina’.
