Application of DMN notation to create legal rules in the expert system

Litigation is currently not fully automated. The handling of court cases is still based on human cognition and “manual” decision-making. The use of technology in the Polish justice system is still at a low level. Unlike organizations, where decision-making processes are fully automated or significantly supported by ICT tools. At the moment, Polish justice system is gradually and slowly implementing new technologies. The considerations undertaken concern the possibility of using business process modeling (BPMN) notation and decision modeling notation (DMN), which are used to describe processes in an organization, to describe issues related to law. It must be said that the justice system is a specific type of organization. According to the Dictionary of the Polish Language, justice is understood as “the activity of the state carried out by courts in the field of criminal and civil jurisprudence”
