Studies were carried to find out whether it is possible to complete the biological cycle of D. filaria in rats after subcutaneous injection and orał administration of 1500 and 3000 larvae. Tests proved that the larvae did not develop and so their biologica! cycle in rats could not have been completed. There appeared a dependence between the amount of the dose administered and the number of larvae collected from several organs during autopsy of rats. Three days after subcutaneous injection of 1500 D. filaria larvae they were found in the liver of rats, and with the dose of 3000 larvae - on the sixth day after infection. Infection of rats by way of subcutaneous injection gave higher intensiveness and extensiveness of infection. At oral infection with the dose of 1500 larvae the autopsy carried out after 24 hrs revealed the presence of only one larva in the liver of one rat, no larvae having been found in the lungs. Now, with the dose of 3000 larvae they were found in the liver on the first and second day, and in the lungs on the third day after infection.
