The author presents the history of a parish farm in Nowe Kramsko, from the feudal period, until the process of granting freedom to peasants. It focuses mainly on the years 1697-1849. We learn about the history of the farm and the meaning of serfdom practised at the parish, as well as its impact on the relations of a feudal village. In the described town, which belonged to the Cistercians in Obra for years, we can also see a very interesting relic of inheriting the surnames after the farm. This habit formally survived until the year 1795; however, it was still used even in the 19th century. The farm had its fixed name, which was taken over as a surname by every landowner. Moreover, the author presents the unique examples of names used in the parish of Nowe Kramsko in the years 1728-1743, which were given by the Cistercian parson. This practice emphasizes the influence the Cistercians had on the village. The article also includes the name list of the owners of the parish farm, which illustrates the history of the rural succession from the period of the decline of feudalism to the creation of full peasant property.
