Przeobrażenia struktury przestrzennej małych miast Dolnego Śląska po 2000 roku

The modernization processes of Polish cities accelerated after 2000, resulting to the economic support are received after incorporation of Poland in 2004 into the structures of the European Union. All these activities are concerned mostly in the small towns that were most affected by the 1989 political transformation. Processes that have been taking place since the beginning of the 21st century in the field of urban theory, as well as the unbelievably fast development of information technologies, change the way of thinking about urban development and its transformations. In less than 20 years, thinking about ways to build transport systems in cities has changed radically. Intelligent transport systems with the participation of autonomous vehicles in cities are now a fact that has its first projects. This also applies to increasing the awareness of residents and city authorities in the field of ecology, as well as to increasing the social participation. All these factors are a sufficient reason to undertake research on supplementing the image of the transformation of the spatial structures of small towns in Lower Silesia with what happened after 2000. The study consists of three main parts: modern research directions of urbanized areas, analysis of the settlement network of Lower Silesia and analysis of the functional and spatial structure of small towns in the Wrocławski Subregion. Three appendixes were developed for small towns of the Wrocławski Subregion. They relate to a detailed analysis of the transformation of these towns, i.e. analysis of the stages of territorial development, analysis of the functional and spatial structure, and as a result also photographic documentation. The summary indicates the qualitative rules for conducting the development of small towns in Lower Silesia after 2000.
