The purpose of the paper is presentation of sports movement of children and adolescents
in the activities of the National Association of Popular Sports and Athletics Clubs in
the years 1999–2011. The Association of Popular Sports and Athletics Clubs conducted its
activities in rural and small town environments. It played a significant role in the system of
youth sports movement in Poland. The percentage share of the sports clubs of the Association
of Popular Sports and Athletics Clubs fluctuated in the area of 20%.
The Association of Popular Sports and Athletics Clubs conducted sports instruction
and training in the following sports disciplines: badminton, cycling, athletics, archery, classical
skiing, weightlifting, table tennis, women’s and men’s wrestling. Sportsmen, members
of the Association, successfully competed in all-Poland and international sports events.
