Najstarsze drzewa Arboretum Kórnickiego: zarys historii kolekcji dendrologicznej na trzech planach parku The oldest trees in the Kórnik Arboretum: outline of the history of its dendrological collection on three maps of the park
The Kórnik Arboretum, now called the Arboretum of the Institute of Dendrology of the Polish Academy of Sciences, has a long and rich history dating back to the 18th-century garden of Teofila Szołdrska-Potulicka, although the collection began in 1826, when count Tytus Działyński began rebuilding the garden. Thanks to the great care of shown by the owners of Kórnik, as well as generations of people working there, numerous sources have been preserved that allow us to trace the changes that took place in this area, as well as to refer to the history of many of the park’s trees. Gathering information from these sources and comparing them with modern data is the subject of this article, which is intended to link the beginnings of the Arboretum with the present.
