Korporacjonizm w interpretacjach obozu narodowego w Polsce (1918–1939)

CORPORATIVISM IS A SOCIAL-ECONOMIC doctrine in which legislative power is given to corporatist assemblies that represents the employers and the employees. The corporativism dates back to the Middle Ages. At the beginning of the 20th century this idea appeared in many theoretical studies and was also encouraged by the Catholic Church, especially by Pope Pius XI in his 1931 encyclical Quadrogessimo anno. In Italy the authoritarian corporativism was realized. In Poland this idea aroused interest of groups connected with Catholic Church and conservative groups. The National Democrats became interested in this concepts in the second half of the interwar period. The situation in Italy and in Portugal was watched carefully. The statements of church hierarchs aroused interest as well. According to a well-known theoretician Adam Doboszyński the aim of the corporatist assemblies was as follows: – to facilitate organizing of workers; – to protect the dignity at work; – to conduct the training activity; – to weaken the class struggle. One of another young activists, Jędrzej Giertych was very interested in the corporativism. On the other hand, the older activists such as Roman Rybarski treated this idea very critically. The above mentioned theoretician feared the ecomic rivalry of different professional groups. And the pope condemned officially the version of fascist corporativism. That’s why the corporativism has not become the official programme of the party. It has been, however, an inspiration for political deliberations.
