The article aims at explaining political reasons and showing off legal results of the famous reform of the House of Lords which was carried out at the start of the last century. It consists of four major parts: 1) historical background for relationships between both houses of the UK parliament and the cabinet, 2) remarks devoted to the political tensions between Conservative and Liberal Party in the early 20th century, 3) draft proposal which were made then to reform the House of Lords, 4) provisions of the Act of Parliament 1911 establishing new rules for the legislative procedure. The author presents the reform of the Lords as a whole, including political and legal aspects. In doing so, he tries to answer two basic questions: why was the issue of Lord so important at that time and what were the consequences of the change made in 1911 for the UK parliament. All these remarks let polish readers understand things which have never been described in the native literature so widely.
