Badania zoometryczne tusz cieląt jelenia szlachetnego (Cervus elaphus L.) z Rejonu Hodowlanego "Lasy Taborskie"

Measurements of 78 red deer calves were carried out taking into consideration their sex and age classes, i.e. calves harvested from 25 September to 30 November – younger age class and from 1 December to 15 January – older age class. It was demonstrated that the body weight of the average calve from the hunting area under study is about 43 kg, the length is over 155 cm and height at the withers and rump are 100 and 111.5 cm, respectively. Sex appeared to be the factor affecting the weight and size of red deer calves. It was proved that the body weight and size depend on the date of culling in the hunting season.
