Historians focusing on the history of the Duchy of Cieszyn give different dates as far as the first written mention of the village of Drogomyśl is concerned. Gottlieb Biermann and
Ladislav Hosák claim that the name ‘Drogomyśl’ appears for the first time in the written sources in 1487. Idzi Panic points to the document dating from 1454 and recorded by Farther Leopold Scherschnick. That document reports the division of the estate after the death of Goch, the owner of Ochaby and Drogomyśl. Some local researchers, for instance Jan Jerzy Szeruda, claim that 1467 is the oldest date in the history of the village of Drogomyśl. The query regarding the subject has showed that this particular date in the history of Drogomyśl could not mean anything important since it does not appear in the documents concerning the village. It is also wrong to claim that Drogomyśl was owned by Wacław Grodecki at that time. In fact at that time Drogomyśl belonged to Mikołaj Brodecki, who was also the
owner of Strumień. However, the Codex Miscellanea Silesiaca kept in the National Library in Vienna, states that Ofka, the Duchess of Cieszyn, and her son, Duke Wenceslaus, on the 13th of July 1436 confirmed the privileges of the village of Drogomyśl and the village of Pruchna. The history of Drogomyśl is therefore longer than previously thought and dates back to the
beginning of the 15th century.
