The aim of this paper is to analyse views and behaviours within promotion of health
through health tourism among female teachers. The research was carried out in May 2015
in a group of 100 teachers from schools with integrated classes in Poznań. The majority of
the respondents were women aged 41 to 50 years, with teaching experience to 20 years,
with the title of a certified teacher.
The respondents identify health tourism mainly with visiting health resorts by elderly
people for the purpose of treatment (84 per cent). Only 26 per cent of them join this kind
of tourism with physical activity. The female teachers questioned rarely visit centres which
offer pro-health programmes. Limitations that female teachers in Poland face most often
are of financial nature, as well as there is insufficient variation of offers.
Activity of the respondents in health tourism is insufficient as far as health promotion
in workplace is concerned. Touroperators should co-operate with companies in order to
arrange in their offers tourist attractions for people with increased risk of occupational disease.
Such a product should be enriched with a variety of pro-health attractions including
specifics of a given profession and work conditions, as well as elements of health education.
