The publication describes the method 70-20-10 in planning staff development in manufacturing company. The method 70-20-10 is a new way of building development plans of employees. The 70:20:10 rule is adapted from the 70:20:10 Learning and Development Model created by Michael M. Lombardo and Robert W. Eichinger, based on research conducted by the Center for Creative Leadership.The essence of the method consists in grouping techniques and tools to develop competence by segments: experience and practice in the work (70%), learning through relationships (20%), thematic trainings and workshops (10%). The basis of the model were visible decline in the share of traditional forms of staff development training. The training in US companies fell below 50%. Traditional forms of knowledge transfer are replaced by coaching, mentoring and self-education. In the theoretical part and practical work particular classes of model 70-20-10 were described. For a case study was used metallurgical company ArcelorMittal. Based on the study of literature and case pointed out the benefits and barriers to the application of the method 70-20-10 in enterprises.
