Wizerunek Powiśla w świadomości społecznej

The aim of the paper is to determine the characteristics and components of the Powiśle image residing in social consciousness and the perception of the functions performed by this district. Powiśle's image among all social groups was positive and the most important places in this city district are the Warsaw University Library, the Copernicus Science Centre and the Vistula riverside. New investments again began to integrate city and the river. Now the changes are speeding up, there are not only more cafes and clubs, but also offices and apartments and Powiśle is perceived as trendy and buzzy district. Warsaw's Powiśle is seen also as an attractive area for living and recreation. Respondents sees an increase in attractiveness of the Vistula river, also a wide range of entertainment and cultural venues makes Powiśle attractive to young residents of the capital. Also, students highly appreciate the transformation of the Vistula riverside, in their opinion, operably linked to the central campus of the University of Warsaw, distinguished by rich gastronomic offer, entertainment and cultural activities. The study showed that the Warsaw Powiśle is perceived as socially heterogeneous area. This area is subject to further the process of heterogenization, thanks to investments held there. The new recognizable objects, transformation of riverside areasand improved accessibility attract investors and new residents.
